Christine Kerr Makes Another YOTA Swimmer For NC State Wolfpack

Christine Kerr of the YMCA of the Triangle Area in North Carolina has verbally committed to the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

“I am excited to experience the energy of the coaches first hand and be apart of the Wolf Pack family,” Kerr said of the decision.

She will join the program’s growing sprint freestyle tradition. She has yards bests of 23.87/51.47/1:50.78 in the 50/100/200 yard freestyles. She combines that with solid breaststroke times as well – including a 1:06.27 in the 100 yard race done at the 2013 YMCA Short Course National Championships.

Kerr has at least three former teammates currently swimming at NC State. That includes Hayley Tomlinson, Colin Ellington, and Noah Franz.

She swims during the high school season for Cary High School, and until the age of 14 focused on club soccer until making the full switch to swimming. That’s when her times really started to come down in a hurry, including dropping three seconds in under a year in the 100 free.

NC State has a strong freestyle group based on recruiting year-after-year. They graduated Nina Grogg after last seasonm and will graduate Lauren Poli after next season, but will still have four swimmers who were 22.4-or-better on a flat-start last season.
