Caspar Corbeau on Swimming 50 Fly in Medley: “I thought it was a joke at first”

TEXAS VS. VIRGINIA

Caspar Corbeau, Texas’ top breaststroke, knew he could swim a good 50 fly. But he didn’t think that would mean he’d be Texas’ #1 option on Friday for the 200 medley relay. However, the Oregon native suited up and embraced the role, splitting a vital 20.08 to help power Texas narrowly past Virginia for the win.

I remember the discussions about him needing to develop because they didn’t have a good breaststroker. How times have changed.

Eddie and Wyatt saw something like in him as a junior in high school, when he was 6ā€™ 4ā€ and 170 lbs soaking wet.

He just came back from a meet where he was trying to hit qualifying times for Iā€™m guessing short course worlds. I assumed he shaved for the meet but maybe not. Anyone know for sure?

Corbeau probably has the fastest 50 breast, 50 fly and 50 free split on the team. Dude is an absolute beast.
