Canada’s Erik Harper Commits to University of Hawai’i for 2017-18

Canada’s Erik Harper has committed to swim at the University of Hawai’i, Mānoa starting in the fall of 2017. Harper swims for Tyee Aquatic Club, and attended Glenlyon Norfolk School, in Victoria, British Columbia. He is a multi-time BC AAA Provincial Finalist, and a multi-time Western Canadian Championship qualifier.

Last season, Harper was Regional Champion in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free at the 2016 Vancouver Island Regional Championships (SCM). Later that season, he won the 50 free, 100 breast, 50 fly, and 50 breast in the long course version of the Vancouver Island Regional Championships.

“I am honoured to announce my commitment to swim for the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa! When I visited the campus in December, I knew right away that this would be the best fit for me. Coach Daniel Schemmel has a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success. I am so looking forward to learning from him, his talented staff, and being part of the rest of the team. I can’t wait to be a Rainbow Warrior! Go ‘Bows!”

Harper’s best SCM / LCM (SCY converted) times include:

  • 50 free — 24.50 / 25.00 (21.75)
  • 100 free — 52.67 / 53.98 (47.12)
  • 200 free — 1:56.08 / 2:01.85 (1:44.58)
