Breaststroker Brock Aune (2020) Sends Verbal Commitment to Minnesota

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Brussels, Wisconsin-native Brock Aune has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Minnesota for 2020-21. He will join a class of 2024 that is shaping up to be a strong one, with pledges from Antonio Octaviano, Cameron Linder, Kaiser Neverman, Leo Goldblatt, Nathan Kim, and William Christenson.

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Minnesota. I’d like to thank Coach Kelly and the Minnesota coaching staff for this opportunity, as well as everyone who has supported me along the way. There are so many B1G things to come and I can’t wait to be a Gopher next fall! Ski-U-Mah!”

A senior at Sturgeon Bay High School, Aune is a two-time Wisconsin Division 2 runner-up in the 100 breast (58.67 in 2018 and 57.60 in 2019). In his junior year season, he also placed third in the 50 free (21.96), split 26.02 on the breaststroke leg of the medley relay, and led off the 200 free relay (21.57).

Representing Door County YMCA at the 2019 YMCA Long Course Nationals this summer, Aune was an A-finalist in the 50m breast. He earned new PBs of 30.25 in the 50m breast and 1:08.72 in the 100m breast. He finished 30th in the 100 breast and 65th in the 200 breast.

Aune will be reuniting with his high school and club teammate Max McHugh at Minnesota. In 2018, as a sophomore, Aune finished second to McHugh in the 100 breast final in which McHugh broke the national public school record with 51.62.

Top SCY times:

So this is the new recruiting tool? Schools staging pics for the kids. Love seeing swim follow football in its recruiting tools now if only they could get the same number of scholarships that would be awesome.

Yikes if that is the case. I just assumed it was staged like Auburn is going these days.

Why is that a yikes? These could be the senior pictures he got professionally taken. I’ve seen a lot of high school swimmers get senior pictures of them with goggles, cap, and suit. All he added with the Minnesota jacket which is fitting since that’s where he is going to school.
