“Best of the Rest” IMer Teagan Steinmetz Adds Verbal to NC State Class of 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

High school junior Teagan Steinmetz from Englewood, Colorado, has made a verbal commitment to North Carolina State University for the 2023-24 school year and beyond.

“I am so very humbled and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at NC State University!! The unity and family-like culture of the coaching staff and team truly sets the program apart. I am so grateful for the constant love and support from my family, friends, teammates, and coaches that have helped me become the person I am today. I can’t wait to be a part of the Wolfpack family! Go pack!!🐺❤️”

Steinmetz, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who swims for Cherry Creek High School and Denver Swim Academy, made our Way Too Early list of top recruits from the high school class of 2023 as a “Best of the Rest” IMer. She placed fifth in the 200 IM (2:05.04, altitude-adjusted to 2:03.84) and sixth in the 100 breast (1:03.28, alt-adj. to 1:03.18) at the 2021 Colorado High School 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships last May. The breast was a lifetime best. Most recently, she competed at Winter Juniors West in the 100/200 breast and 200/400 IM and came in 14th in the 400 IM. Steinmetz achieved PBs in the 200/400 IM at the 2019 version of the same meet. Her LCM bests in the 200/400 IM (2:22.38/4:59.93) date from last November when she competed at the multi-site U.S. Open in Indianapolis.

Best SCY Times:

  • 200 IM – 2:02.78
  • 400 IM – 4:16.65
  • 100 breast – 1:03.28
  • 200 breast – 2:14.82

Steinmetz will join #17 Keelan Cotter and Abby Woolford in Raleigh in the fall of 2023. Her best 400 IM time would have scored for the Wolfpack in the B final at 2021 ACC Women’s Championships, while her 200 breast time would have made the C final. It took 2:01.20 in the 200 IM and 1:02.33 in the 100 breast to get a second swim at the conference meet.
