2025 Spring Sectionals- Indianapolis

  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • March 27-30, 2025
  • LCM (50 meters)
  • Psych Sheet
  • Meet Mobile: “2025 Central Zone East Spring Speedo Sectiona”

15 year old Audrey Derivaux of Jersey Wahoos crushed her personal best time to swim to a 2:06.68 in the girls 200 backstroke. That marks the #4 swim in the 15-16 age group all-time.

Derivaux entered the meet with a personal best time of a 2:09.31 that she swam in January. She made semifinals in the event at US Olympic Trials last summer swimming a 2:09.80 for 10th. Her swim today would have made the final in Lucas Oil Stadium and notably would have been 4th in the final. It took a 2:06.27 to make the US Olympic Team in the event as Regan Smith swam a 2:05.16 and Phoebe Bacon was 2nd in a 2:06.27.

Derivaux now climbs the all-time 15-16 age group rankings. She previously sat at #12 but now sits at #4.

All-Time 15-16 Rankings- Girls 200 LCM Backstroke

  1. Missy Franklin 2:05.10 (2011)
  2. Elizabeth Beisel 2:06.39 (2009)
  3. Regan Smith 2:06.43 (2018)
  4. Audrey Derivaux 2:06.68 (2025)

Finishing behind Derivaux in the 200 back was Charlotte Crush. Crush swam to a 2:10.07, just off her lifetime best of a 2:09.71 from summer 2023. Crush swam the event at Olympic Trials last summer finishing 20th in a 2:12.17.

US Olympian Kieran Smith won the 200 backstroke in a personal best 1:57.32. More known for his freestyle, Smith will also swim the 100 free, 200 free, and 400 free this week. He was entered in the 200 back with a yards time as he has not swam the LCM 200 back since December 2023 when he swam a 1:57.51 at the US Open. That was his old personal best. His swim today would have been 6th at Olympic Trials last summer if he swam the event.

Louisville commit Julie Mishler won the girls 50 free in a 25.21, just off her best of a 25.06 that she swam in a time trial at Olympic Trials. Mishler had a big swim last December, breaking Gretchen Walsh’s high school record in the SCY 50 free with a 21.56.

The boys 50 freestyle was a close race as Aaron Shackell earned the win in a 23.20, a best time by 0.01. Aaron Shackell returned home to train with Carmel after spending the fall at Texas. Aaron Shackell touched ahead of his younger brother Andrew Shackell who tied with Brady Campbell in a 23.25 for 2nd. That was a big lifetime best for Andrew as his previous best was a 23.84. Campbell’s lifetime best entering the meet was a 23.39 and he swam a 23.24 in prelims.

Addie Robillard of Mason Manta Rays earned the win in the girls 200 breast by over four seconds as she touched in a 2:29.73. The Stanford commit has been as fast as 2:27.50. She finished 14th in the event at US Trials last summer in a 2:30.11.

Just two weeks after finishing 2nd in the SCY 200 breast at Division II NCAAs, Jeremias Pock of Indianapolis earned the LCM win here in a 2:13.15. The German native has a lifetime best of a 2:12.67.

She’s going to make life difficult for Regan and Katie Grimes…

With Jillian in distance free and now Audrey in IM, will Katie make the Singapore team?

wow if her fly is still better than her backstroke, the 200 flyers (except Regan lol) are in some serious trouble

lol this class of 2027 trio of rylee, audrey, and luka are going to keep the lights on in colorado springs!

i hope shes strategic about what she swims in indy this year. at trials last year she ended up swimming 6 events which is fine when youre a longshot just looking for experience, but not the best idea when you actually have a realistic shot of making the team.

was thinking about audreys theoretical event lineup and its kinda similar to summer mcintoshs — 200 fl / 200 bk / 200 im / 400 im. 😮

true but at trials this year there will be a double w the 400 im & 100 fl — its probably smarter to go all in with one of the two

Needs to develop freestyle for the relays.

200 fr is probably going to be the last event to pop in her program given where her strengths are currently — but at the rate of her improvement trajectory she prob doesnt even need a relay slot and will one shot herself into an individual slot

Funnily enough, I, a non-American, am more interested in men’s NCAA’s right now than whatever LCM meet goes on at the same time. Very unlike me.
