The Boilermaker women swept first through fourth place in two events, starting with Alexa Davis leading the pack in the 1000 free.  Her 9:51.66 earned her the #9 position in the 2015-16 NCAA rankings, but more impressive was her win later in the 500 freestyle, taking the #5 ranking with a B cut 4:47.31.  The other 1-4 sweep for the Purdue women was the 200 fly, led by Meagan Lim at 2:02.51.

Two more B cuts were achieved in the women’s meet, both in the 100 breast.  Iowa’s Emma Sougstad finished in 1:02.23 to earn hers, but was exactly a second behind Purdue’s Emily Fogle.  That 1:01.23 from Fogle is now the #6 time in the NCAA rankings.  Sougstad went on to win two events later in the meet for the Hawkeyes, taking the 200 breast in 2:16.43 and the 100 IM in 57.38.

Other double event winners were Purdue’s Gracie Hernandez who took the 50 free (23.68) and 100 free (51.34,) while Mary Beth Dunnichay who swept both the one meter and three meter diving events.

The men’s meet boasted six double event winners, led by Purdue’s Marat Amaltdinov who earned the only two male B cuts, turning in 55.04 and 1:58.07 for the 100 and 200 breaststrokes.  His time in the 100 moves him up to #17 this year so far, and his 200 moved him all the way up to the #7 ranking in the nation.

Other double event winners for Purdue were Joshua Brooks, Filip Bujoczek and Joseph Cifelli.  Brooks won the 1000 free (9:26.48) and 500 free (4:33.96,) while Bujoczek took the 200 (1:39.79) and 100 (45.20) freestyles.  Cifelli swept the one and three meter diving events for the Boilermakers.
The Hawkeyes had two double event winners of their own.  Kenneth Mende took ownership of the 100 and 200 backstrokes with 49.03 and 1:49.11.  Jerzy Twarowski landed wins in both butterfly events, turning in 48.50 for the 100 and 1:49.38 for the 200.
