Alexandria Ham Commits To LSU

Stingrays Swimming’s Alexandria Ham gave her verbal commitment to swim at Louisiana State University next season for the Tigers.

Ham, an IM specialist from Marietta, GA, boasts some relatively fast times in the medley races that will bode well in Louisiana come fall of 2016.

“I chose LSU because as soon as I stepped on campus I knew that was where I wanted to spend the next four years,” said Ham. “The team and coaches are so great, and I couldn’t see myself anywhere else.”

Ham qualified for winter nationals last season in both the short course 200 yard IM and the long course 400m IM.

At the Georgia 1-5A High School State Championships Ham managed to drop a 2:03.68 in prelims in order to qualify for the final. Representing Kell High School, Ham finished third overall in the event with a final time of 2:03.68. She also ended up 8th in the 100 backstroke.

Later on in the season at the Georgia Senior Long Course State Championships, Ham finished second in the 400m IM with a very swift 4:58.82, dipping under the five-minute mark for the first time in her career. Ham also added fifth place finishes in both the 200m IM and 200m back.

With a wide range of talents that include stroke 200s along with her IM swims, Ham brings a versatile event range that will be a big asset as a collegiate swimmer.

“I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team. Geaux Tigers!”
