Joey Nizzardo Commits to DI Fairfield University Stags

For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Joey Nizzardo, a current high school senior from Monroe, Connecticut, has committed to swim for DI Fairfield University beginning in the fall. He will be graduating from Masuk High School in the spring of 2021 and will join the Stags’ class of 2025.

Currently, Nizzardo swims for the Shelton Monroe Swim Team along with swimming for his high school, where he is a Connecticut Scholar Athlete. He has received All-Southwest Conference and All-State recognition and holds 3 high school records and 11 club records.

At the 2020 Connecticut Swimming Senior Championships, Nizzardo placed 3^rd in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:11.92.

• 200 freestyle – 1:46.90
• 500 freestyle – 4:42.62
• 1650 freestyle – 16:11.92

At the 2020 MAAC Championships with the Stags, Nizzardo would have placed 12^th in the 1650 freestyle (16:11.92) with his current best time.

At this meet, the Fairfield men placed 6^th as a team.
