Connecticut HS Swim Coach Placed On Leave After Swimmers Fall Sick…..A Stamford, Connecticut high school swimming coach has been placed on leave following an incident involving his athletes practicing in an untreated pool. During an October 18th practice, members of the Westhill-Stamford girls so-op swimming and diving team began complaining about pool conditions. However, practice went on as scheduled, which resulted in several girls later experiencing ‘adverse physical reactions.’ Specific symptoms have not been released, but tests discovered that the pool had no chlorine at the time the practice took place. Stamford Public Schools Public Affairs Officer Sharon Beadele told The Stamford Advocate, “The condition of the pool water and the adverse physical reactions warranted an investigation of the situation.” Head Coach Rick Lewis, Westhill-Stamford coach since 1979, has been placed on leave.
