California backstroker/freestyler Katie Yule will join the USC Trojans in the fall of 2020, rather than the Tennessee Volunteers.
Yule had originally verbally committed to Tennessee as a junior in high school. But per her Instagram, Yule changed her college choice and will now join the USC Trojans. Yule currently swims for DART Aquatics and Folsom High School in Folsom, California. She’s primarily a backstroker, but also a solid mid-distance freestyler.

USC’s coaching staff is still in flux. Longtime head coach Dave Salo announced in January that he’d be stepping down after this season to focus on training professionals and Olympic hopefuls. There’s been lots of speculation about potential candidates to replace Salo, but so far, the school has not announced any hire.
Yule joins an incoming freshman class that we recently ranked #5 in the nation. It already includes star breaststroker/freestyler Kaitlyn Dobler along with Canadian Olympic hopeful Jade Hannah. Others in the 2020 freshman class are Anicka Delgado, Andrea Santander, Caroline Famous, Adair Sand, Caraline Baker and Johanna Jorgenson.

What’s the delay in the USC coaching situation? Is there a threat USC might drop swimming for budgetary reasons?
Uhhh, USC doesn’t have budget issues being an extremely rich private university. They won’t be dropping swimming anytime soon…they are finalizing with their candidate, we will see if they can get all the details done.

Has USC confirmed this? Lots of speculation surrounds this story.
How so? Genuinely curious as I am not too familiar with who she is/ what the new coaching situation at USC will be.
I do not believe the schools can comment until the LOI is signed. So USC will not be able to confirm or deny.
This is for the fall of 2020. I would think the NLI would be signed at this time.
