Yorktown, Virginia’s Parker Harp will remain in state next year to swim for Old Dominion University.
“Overall ODU has everything I’m looking for in a school it has a great program and great finance program.”
Harp is a senior at York High School. He won both sprint freestyle events at the 2017 VHSL 3A State Swimming & Diving Championship in February. After taking the 50 free by .10 with 21.55, he claimed the 100 title from lane 3, edging the top seed by 1/100 to win in 46.90. He also split 20.96 on the end of the Falcons’ 200 free relay and 46.50 anchoring the 400 free relay.
Harp has swum for the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins for the past ten years. He recently swam his best SCY 50/100 free times at the Chambersburg Sectionals, where he placed second in the 50 free and seventh in the 100.
“I’m being recruited as a sprint freestyler. My parents have been by my side since I started swimming for the Y when I was 7 and have always been there for me. My coaches have trained me, set high expectations for me, and have always encouraged me to do my best.”
His top SCY times are:
- 50 free – 21.03
