Congratulations to Mike9600, our overall champion with 247 points!  Despite never finishing in the top 8 on a particular night, his general consistency gave him the edge over the field.  Our night seven winner was UAHSalum with 46 points, while night eight brought a seven-way tie for first place (with there only being two events contested).

Night seven & eight notes:

  • 575 of 593 contestants who made men’s 1500 picks selected Connor Jaeger to win
  • Not a single reader picked Chris Wieser to finish in the top four

Thanks for setting up the contest, SwimSwam it was fun. Hmm I got 32nd place. I think the hardest part that affected scores the most, on top of predicting scratching or faltering favorites, was who was going to have their breakout swims to break into the top 4 to replace those faltering or scratched favorites. (Did anyone pick Ruby Martin for 4th in the 200 fly?? Bethany Galat for her two 3rd place finishes?)

I was really erratic though. I aced the men’s 100 back and 400 free, but I got total goose eggs in at least half a dozen events, probably more than that, maybe a dozen.

In fact, seeing as this is Olympic Trials and all.. shouldn’t second place make the team? *wink wink*

A very solid 66th place finish on my part : I am impressed despite many mistakes in predicting of course … Started from day 1 with zero points . Well done Ervin ????

This was lots of fun, I’ll definitely do it for the Olympics and 2017 NCAA’s. The following 4 things were probably the biggest 4 happenings that affected people’s scores the most
1. Becca Mann’s overall poor performance
2. Phelps not swimming the freestyle events
3. No Ella Eastin in the top 4 of either IM event
4. Grevers and Coughlin not making the team

IMO, the hardest decisions to make were: mens 100 back and 1st and 2nd between DiRado and Beisel in the 400 im. Or maybe women’s 200 free 2nd, 3rd, and 4th between Smith, Scmhitt, and Missy (Try saying “Smith,Schmitt, Missy 5 times fast!)

A solid 80th. I’ll take that for my first pick ’em. My picks went off a cliff towards the end of the meet. e.g. Lawrence and Meili in the 200 breast
