The Naval Academy has become the dominant force in the Patriot League, and we don’t see that ending anytime soon. The men have won the last 11 championships in a row, while the women have claimed victory in four of the last five.

The 2014 Patriot League Championship was an exciting meet, once you take Navy out of the equation. On the women’s side, Bucknell (2nd), BU (3rd) and Army (4th) were all vying for that next spot, while the rest of the conference (Lehigh, Colgate, Loyola (MD), American, Lafayette, and Holy Cross) filled out the standings. The men’s meet was more spread out: after Navy, Army was the clear second-place finisher; BU and Bucknell battled for third. Lehigh led the next group, and was followed by American, Lafayette, Loyola (MD), Colgate, and Holy Cross.

Not too much will change in 2015. Navy just has too much depth to reckon with, and on the men’s side at least, too many top-eight swimmers in events like the 200 free and 500 free, to let anyone else into the game.
