DISTRICT 7
Rival Tampa high schools split the girls and boys titles in district 7, with Freedom High School hitting an early dominant streak to win the girls meet and King High cruising home with the boys trophy.

Freedom won three of the first four events on the girls side, building an early lead, then popped off a win in the final relay to ice things by just 24 over Sickles, another Tampa school.
Moira Espinosa was a major player for Freedom, sweeping the sprint freestyles and swimming on both winning relays. Espinosa was 25.64 in the 50 and 55.66 in the 100, winning both easily. She also swam butterfly on the 200 medley, splitting 29.69 and led off the 400 free relay that won the meet for Freedom.
Sickles made things close, getting three wins from junior Kendal Allen. Allen won the 100 fly (1:01.25) and 100 back (1:02.65) and helped the 200 free relay take home the district title.
BOYS

The King boys were dominant, sweeping all the relay races and getting double individual wins from both of the Luo brothers, Eric and Eugene.
Eric struck first, winning the 200 IM in 2:06.52, and came back to take the 100 breast in 1:04.53 in his senior season. His younger brother, a junior, won the 100 free (51.22) and 100 back (57.85).
Hillsborough took second, with sophomore Fitzhugh Rawls sweeping the 200 and 500 frees.
District 8
The girls of Osceola picked up an all-around team win, taking the overall title by a wide margin despite winning just a couple of individual races. Meanwhile the boys meet was a tight three-way battle, but Lakewood Ranch used a huge run through the first two events to claim the title.

Osceola won with its overpowering depth, taking event wins in two of the three relays while finishing second in the other relay event. The team also got three individual wins.
Alexandra Walker won the 200 free (1:59.67) and also put up a key leg on the winning 400 free relay. Meanwhile Savannah Sawyers was a 4-event force, winning the 100 breast (1:06.88) and coming directly off that to anchor that winning 400 free relay with the team’s best split. Sawyers, a junior, was also on the champion 200 medley relay and took 3rd in the 50 free.
Also winning for Osceola was sophomore diver Amber Brickey.
Lakewood Branch junior Madison Jean was also impressive, winning the 100 fly and 100 free back-to-back
BOYS

The boys meet was a close three-team race between Lakewood Ranch, Venice and Braden River. Lakewood Ranch ultimately took home the title on a very fast start.
The team won the 200 medley relay, then went 1-2 in the next event, the 200 free. There senior Luke Hanner won in 1:43.77 with junior Daniel Erlenmeyer second. Both showed great endurance, coming right off of legs on the winning medley relay.
Hanner would go on to win the 100 fly, while Erlenmeyer claimed the 500 free. The two then reunited on the 400 free relay, which also won to seal Lakewood Ranch’s team victory.
District 9
The Gulf Coast girls DQ’d their championship medley relay, but atoned by sweeping the free relays to hang onto the team win.

Gulf Coast claimed the girls team title, led by a pair of big 1-2 finishes in the meet’s early goings. Senior Niki Fistrovic won the 200 IM (2:11.72) by a wide margin, followed by her sophomore teammate Kayla Tennant. Then in the 100 fly, Tennant blasted to a 58.60 win with teammate Allison Moore second.
Gulf Coast had to overcome some adversity, as its 200 medley relay, which won by a longshot, was disqualified. But the team recovered well, dominating the two free relays, and also got a pair of wins from senior Elise Haan (100 free, 100 back) to beat out Fort Meyers for the title.
Fort Meyers got a pair of distance wins from junior Kendall Brent, who won the 200 and 500 frees.
BOYS

Charlotte used major freestyle prowess to pick up the boys title. The team notably went 1-2-3 in the 100 free to help them overcome Gulf Coast by 36.
Charlotte got a pair of wins each from Jesse Hill and Hans Schroeder. Hill, a senior, led the 1-2-3 charge in the 100 free, going 51.18. He also won the 50 free in 23.38.
Schroeder, a junior, topped the 200 free, leading a 1-2 Charlotte punch, as well as the 100 back, which he won by almost four seconds.
