Ohio State Women Take Down Wright State

The Buckeye women outscored Wright State 147 to 65 on the women’s Senior Day Saturday at McCorkle Aquatic Pavillion. Taking nine event wins, this pushes the Buckeye women to their twelfth dual meet victory.

The Ohio State women kicked off the meet by taking a 1-2-3-4 sweep in the 200 Medley Relay, with the A team touching first in 1:42.21. The Buckeye B team claimed second (1:43.78) ahead of the C (1:46.19) and E (1:47.42) respectively.

Buckeye Lindsey Clary took home the win in the 200 Free (1:51.33) ahead of teammates Zhesi Li (1:52.11), Zulal Zeren (1:54.30) and Paige Kelly (1:55.24) for another big event sweep.

Ohio State freshman Cheyenne Meek (23.28) and teammate Chantel Wynn (23.76) claimed first and second in the 50 Free. Wright State’s Ashley Miller followed up for third in 26.71.

The Ohio State freshman pair of Zara Bailey and Amanda McNulty took a 1-2 finish in the 400 IM, swimming to a 4:21.46 and a 4:35.76, respectively. Abby Saner from Wright State touched third in 4:43.36 ahead of teammate Jamie Krupp (4:55.68).

Buckeye senior Ashley Vance touched first in the 100 Fly in 55.75 to lead a 1-2-3-4-5 Ohio State sweep. Her teammates Kaitlyn Cerne (56.63), Elizabeth Auckley (56.59), Annie Gillig (57.34) and Amy Bopp (57.53) finished close together for second through fifth.

Ohio State continued its winning streak with a 1-2-3-4 finish led by Buckeye Annie Jongekijg in 51.34. Her teammates Annelise Sprau (52.05), Erin Dunseith (52.82), Kaitlyn Ferrara (53.09) followed up for second through fourth, respectively.

Buckeye teammates Amanda Petro (56.99) and Meg Bailey (57.17) had a close race for the top two places in the 100 Back. Wright State’s Kortney Mullen touched third in 58.87 ahead of Ohio State’s Kathleen Cook (1:00.00).

Ohio State took a 1-2 sweep in the 500 Free, thanks to efforts from Alex Wittman (4:52.99) and Camey Rabold (5:04.84), respectively.

Wright State teammates Kayla Fearrin (1:05.92), Meghan Wilson (1:11.28), Alyssa Athmer (1:13.19) and Brittany Podczerwinski (1:18.02) took home first through fourth for the Raiders in the 100 Breast.

In the diving events, Ohio State’s Brittany Menninger took the 1-meter (306.83), while her teammate Taylor Ford claimed a win in the 3-meter (335.55).

The Raiders topped off the meet with a win in the 200 Free Relay (1:38.73)  in a close race to touch ahead of Ohio State’s D team (1:39.08).
