Mary Beckwith, who swims with the Stingrays in Marietta, Georgia, has made a verbal commitment to Vanderbilt University for the 2015-16 season.
Beckwith is a senior at Walton High School in Marietta, is a four-time finalist at the Georgia High School 6A State Swimming and Diving championships. As a junior, she won the consolation of the 200 free and finished 12th the 100 back. The previous year she was 13th in the 200 free and 11th in back.
Beckwith’s top times over the last two seasons are:
50y back: 27.86 | 50m back: 31.84 |
100y back: 57.43 | 100m back: 1:06.23 |
200y back: 2:04.76 | 200m back: 2:22.77 |
50y free: 25.11 | 50m free: 28.59 |
100y free: 53.65 | 100m free: 1:01.37 |
200y free: 1:54.41 | 200m free: 2:10.33 |
500y free: 5:09.83 | 400m free: 4:37.56 |
Vanderbilt is in the hyper-competitive SEC but also competes against non-conference foes such as Western Kentucky, Northern Florida, Queens and Wingate. The Commodores have enormous freshman and sophomore classes, and seem to be getting stronger with each recruiting year. Beckwith should be a nice addition to the class of 2019.
Congrats Mary from all your old friends in London. I’m thrilled you kept up the swimming and Vandy is a great school!
