Qualifications

Proven experience with attracting and successfully recruiting qualified candidates to the college/university level within NCAA regulations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for developing our Jr & Sr group program swimmers (ages 13-18 – A swimmers & above) to be ready to compete at the State, Sectional, National & Collegiate levels
    • Develop and maintain season and quadrennial plans for the Sr Group that shows increased knowledge of the progression of our age group program and develops innovative techniques that show success and improvement. (This includes yardage and technique goals as well as how the group is being differentiated).
    • Responsible for writing a monthly report on the prior month’s success, needs for improvement, and goals for the next month.
  • Responsible for attending important Gulf Meetings such as House of Delegates, Board of Directors, and Technical Planning meetings and sharing the information on how it impacts ESA.
  • Schedule pool time, practices & meets
    • Set the next month’s pool rental schedule with the school district liaison by the 15th of each month
    • Set up long course pool time during the summer months
  • Hire, train, and maintain staff
  • Develop contracts for staff
  • Responsible for strategic planning such as managing group size, staffing, and determining whether changes need to be implemented for the best of ESA.
  • Invoice meets entry fees monthly on Team Unify

  • Send a weekly email with a schedule and events to the senior group.
  • Send a weekly newsletter to the team with a schedule and events.
  • Assist & Mentor the Head Age Group Coach as needed.
  • Responsible for helping maintain a safe atmosphere by adhering to all USA swimming rules and regulations and providing positive and constructive feedback to our swimmers and parents.
    • Attend daily practice Monday – Saturday for Jr & Sr groups, as well as attend meets as scheduled/needed.
    • Supervise swimmers in the pool area at all times.
    • Teaching/training groups of swimmers between the ages of 11-18 (BB swimmers & High school aged athletes).
    • Give instruction and feedback on training & technique
    • Communicate with parents and swimmers; meet information, results, and feedback.
    • Greet, acknowledge, and interact with members at all times.
    • Create an educational, safe, and inviting experience for all participants.
    • Initiate, develop, and maintain positive relationships with all participants
    • Provide a safe, clean and organized pool area
  • In charge of:
    • Setting calendar – practice & meet schedules
    • Staffing and staff schedules
    • Meet entries
    • Staff mentoring & development (including professional development)
    • Team/organization planning & development (including help starting & staffing a learn-to-swim program)
  • Plan & Manage Senior Travel trips
  • Maintain team practice and master calendars and reporting the monthly calendar to our school district (rental) liaison.
  • Run monthly meetings with Staff (and ownership).

Vacation

Two weeks in August, one week in March (built-in), and one week (pending coverage) during our Thanksgiving or Christmas breaks.

The Preserve Piranhas Swim Team is accepting applications for the position of Head Swim Coach for Summer 2025. Candidates should have a strong background in High School or College Swimming, be well-organized, and be strong communicators to both students and adults.

The Preserve Piranhas Swim Team is a summer swim program for Ages 6 – 18, plus a development program for ages 3-6, and is part of the Rocky Mountain Swim League (RMSL). Roughly 100 local kids participate on the team each summer and the home pool is short course meters (outdoor) and located in Greenwood Village, CO. The team is governed by the Preserve Piranhas Swim Team Board comprised of volunteer parent representatives. We are committed to fostering a source of fun, joy, and meaning for the kids and building a sense of community in the neighborhood through competitive swimming and team building.

Job Details:
• Contribute to and advance the team mission. Provide coaching to ensure swimmer development and promote positive team dynamics. Implement and improve the existing program to attract and retain swimmers. Provide positive representation of the team locally, regionally, and nationally.
• Exhibit professionalism and comply with the RMSL Coaches Code of Conduct.
• Responsible for managing 5 – 7 assistant and junior coaches across all age groups and communicating directly with team parents.
• Train and coach participants by teaching stroke work, competition, and personal development.
• Design and adhere to the practice schedule for the season and ensure Preserve pool deck is returned to “open swim” setup after practices (e.g., removing lane lines, keeping secure gate closed). Practices are likely to begin Monday, May 19th and end on Friday, July 11th, 2025 (afternoon practices in May, morning practices in June/July).
• Attend scheduled meets to include all intersquad, dual/tri, and championship meets for the summer swim team.
• Responsible for the safety of participants and coaches while always adhering to policies and procedures.
• Review all meet entries, oversee relay selection, and adhere to deadlines set by Preserve Meet Manager and RMSL for weekly meet entry submissions. Review meet results (including DQs) and work with swimmers to inspire and improve performance.
• Track all scratches and alternate swimmers on day of swim meet as needed.
• Monitor weather and communicate changes to practice type (e.g., dryland) or cancellation promptly to Preserve Piranha swim community.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Preserve Piranhas Board.

Job Requirements:
• Competitive swimming background with solid knowledge of, and ability to teach, competitive strokes, starts, and turns.
• Available for the entire season, with minimal exception; all practices, stroke clinics, meets, events, prelims, and finals.
• Ability to effectively coach and train large numbers of children.
• Ability to communicate with members, staff, and the public in a courteous and effective manner.
• Completion of concussions training (per RMSL policy); current CPR certification, SafeSport, and Concussion training required prior to start of season.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Must pass a drug and background screening.

Salary Range:
Season stipend: $5,500 – $6,500, depending on experience.

We are seeking a suitable candidate to fill the full-time position of the Head Coach, Swimming Academy and National Youth Training Centre, in close partnership with the national sport association for swimming, Singapore Aquatics (SAQ), to prepare our developmental student-athletes for national team representation at international competitions and Major Games (Southeast Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, World Championships and Olympic Games). The Head Coach will report to the National Head Coach, SAQ for technical matters and the Assistant Director Sports, SSP for administrative matters.

You will be responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and improving the training and competition plans for student-athletes, based on long-term athlete development principles. You will work with the general manager, fellow coaches, teachers, mentors, parents and other stakeholders to achieve the sporting goals and holistic development of the student-athletes under your care, including conducting regular review sessions with each swimmer to discuss performance progress and goals.

 

You will also be expected to work with the general manager to recruit suitable student-athletes, mentor the team of coaches in the Academy and establish good relationships with parents and external stakeholders such as SAQ’s High-Performance Team.

 

Requirements

  • At least 10 years’ experience of coaching competitive and developmental youth athletes.
  • Able to lead, mentor and develop coaches to increase their capabilities and deliver a higher standard of coaching.
  • Possess the equivalent of the SG-Coach Level 3 (Theory and Technical) and/or an international swimming coaching qualification recognised by World Aquatics.
  • Fulfil requirements to obtain National Registry of Coaches (NROC) membership and Ministry of Education (MOE) registration.
  • Displays good understanding of sports science as applied to elite youth sports based on long term athlete development principles.
  • Keen understanding of the quality Daily Training Environment needed for the development of student-athletes.
  • Competent in values inculcation and character development for student-athletes.
  • Good planning, administrative and organizational skills, with progressive knowledge, skills and attitude towards the use of data analytics in the training program.
  • Good team player and able to communicate well in English with student-athletes and stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a school environment would be an advantage.
