The Game

You pick the top four in each event, we give you points. It’s as simple as that. We’ve cut the list off at the top 8 seeds, but have added an “other” option for anyone feeling more daring.

Prizes

We love it when Nike Swim sponsors our Pick ‘Em Contests, because they set the bar at an absolute maximum height for the prize packages that they give to our readers.

They’ve stepped up their game again, and this year for women’s NCAA’s will be awarding:

Daily Prize – the legal entrant with the most points from each day’s events receives the following package. Note that for the daily prize, everyone starts the day with “0” points; carryover isn’t included.

  • Nike Swim Dome Cap
  • Resolute Max Goggle
  • Nike Swim Backpack

Grand Prize – the legal entrant with the most points at the end of the entire meet will receive:

  • Nike Swim Dome Cap
  • Resolute Max Goggle
  • Nike Swim Backpack
  • PLUS – The new Nike Swim NG-1 tech suit.

This new Nike NG-1 is so top secret, that they won’t even give us a picture to share yet before the official launch next week. The SwimSwam 2014 NCAA Women’s Pick ‘Em contest winner will be among the first in the world with a chance to get this suit. How cool is that?

Scoring

We’ve changed the scoring system ever-so-slightly from the one we used for Worlds, and upped the point values for picking event winners. We felt that as compared to meets like World Championships, picking winners at NCAA’s can be a little tougher, and so we’ve made picking both the 1st and 2nd place finishers worth 4 points.

  • 1st – 4 points
  • 2nd – 4 points
  • 3rd – 3 points
  • 4th – 2 points
  • Correctly Picking “Other” in correct spot – 3 bonus points, plus earned points
  • Successfully predicting a swimmer in the top 4, but in the wrong spot – 1 bonus point

Tie-Breaker

All ties will be broken by the following order:

  1. Who had the most 1st place picks correct
  2. Who had the most 2nd place picks correct
  3. Who had the most 3rd place picks correct
  4. Who had the most 4th place picks correct
  5. Who has the highest overall score (if tie is for a daily prize)
  6. Drawing of lots

Official Rules

Before entering, please read the official rules here. Picks are due for the contest by Wednesday at Midnight.

There is no “Other” option in the women’s 100 Free. It’s kind of unfortunately, because I have an “other” person as part of my top three. Can this be added?

On the 400 freestyle relay Texas is listed as 4th when stanford is actually the fourth seed. So i just put other in the place of stanford since it was not one of the choices.

How do we get credit for “other” picks without entering a name?

Is there a way we can see what we pick after we hit submit?
