GRANVILLE, Ohio – Xavier men’s and women’s swimming combined for 12 first place finishes, splitting a dual meet at Denison on Saturday afternoon, with the Xavier women picking up the win over the Big Red.

Xavier returns home to host Northern Kentucky for Senior Day at the Heidt Family Champions Center, set for Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1:00 p.m.

  • Xavier’s men opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, with Matt FralicEthan SaundersAiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson setting a time of 1:31.50.
  • Ethan Leamer led Xavier in the 1000 free with a time of 9:47.63.
  • Luke Peterson took second in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.27.
  • Matt Fralic led Xavier in the 100 back with a time of 52.38.
  • Ethan Saunders placed second in the 100 breast, finishing in 57.02.

GRANVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 26) – The Denison University women’s swimming team fell by a 144-118 score to Division I Xavier University Saturday afternoon in the first home action of the 2024-25 season.

There were no diving events held during this dual meet. Denison picked up wins in four events as Jassy Park and Quinn Brown secured two wins apiece to lead the way.

Park, Drue ThielkingAmber Croonquist and Maddie Schaefer finished second in the 200 Medley Relay to open the meet. The quartet put together a time of 1:44.73.

Brown gave Denison its first victory of the meet in the 1000 Free. Brown posted a time of 10:15.95 to put her more than 20 seconds faster than the next swimmer.

Park earned the victory in the 100 Back. Her NCAA B Cut time of 56.17 put her more than two seconds faster than the next closest competitor.

Thielking placed second in the 100 Breaststroke. The junior came in with a time of 1:04.91. Riley Tofflemire finished third with a time of 1:05.93 in the event.

Emma Pritchett finished as the runner up in the 200 Fly. Pritchett posted a time of 2:09.08.

Croonquist and Schaefer went 2-3 in the 50 Free. They posted respective times of 24.27 and 24.35 in the event.

Emily Harris finished second in the 100 Free with a time of 53.74. Harris finished third in the 200 Free, earlier in the day, with a time of 1:54.00. Olivia Morse was third in the 100 Free with a time of 53.80.

Park’s strong day continued in the 200 Back, as a time of 2:06.87 gave her another first place finish. Pritchett and Caroline Ramirez finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 Back.

Thielking and Tofflemire were second and third in the 200 Breaststroke. Thielking posted a time of 2:20.73 while Tofflemire came in at 2:25.57.

Brown picked up her second win of the day when she came in first in the 500 Free. Brown posted an NCAA B Cut time of 4:58.51 to pace all swimmers in the event.

Denison had swimmers finish second and third in the 100 Fly. Pritchett was second at 57.02 while Croonquist was third at 57.41.

Thielking secured second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.15.

Denison’s top team in the 200 Free Relay consisted of Croonquist, Schaefer, Ramirez and Grace Kadlecik. The group compiled a time of 1:36.08.

Fourth-ranked Denison travels to top-ranked Kenyon for their annual meet on Saturday, Nov. 9. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Gambier.

GRANVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 26) – The Denison University men’s swimming team posted a dominant 173-84 win over Division I Xavier University in the first home action of the season at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.

Denison secured the top time in 13 of the 14 events contested on Saturday. There were no diving events held during this dual meet.

Denison opened with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Jack HillPatrick DalyChristian Narcelles and Nick Hensel raced to a time of 1:30.70 to secure the win.

The Big Red finished in the top three spots of the 1000 Free. Lucas Conrads paced the efforts with a time of 9:43.50. George Goins and Tyler Distenfeld finished second and third, respectively, with times of 9:45.25 and 9:45.70.

Cameron Noble placed first in the 200 Free. Noble came in with a time of 1:41.85. Cameron McIntire finished third in the event by timing in at 1:43.41.

Denison finished in the top three spots of the 100 Back. Hill clocked in at 50.54 while Devin Testin was second (51.55) and Luke Swiggett was third (52.13).

Daly won the race to the finish in the 100 Breaststroke. Daly clocked in at 56.30 to take the top spot. Teak Rommaneekochchakorn was third with a time of 57.14.

Max Lough and Dylan Escano finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 Fly.

Hensel took first in the 50 Free with a time of 20.66. His teammate, Benjamin Coverdale, was the runner up with a time of 21.24.

Hensel added another first place finish. This time he took first in the 100 Free by posting a time of 45.63. The Big Red took the top four spots in the event. Jack Hill was second with a time of 46.20.

Testin gave Denison the victory in the 200 Back. He posted a time of 1:54.69 while Swiggett was second (1:54.92) and Marshall Pifer finished third (1:56.06).

Rommaneekochchakorn picked up a win of his own in the 200 Breaststroke. He narrowly touched the wall in front of the next closest competitor. Rommaneekochchakorn won with a time of 2:06.38.

McIntire secured the win for Denison in the 500 Free. He logged a time of 4:36.40 to take the top spot. Conrads was the runner up with a time of 4:44.00.

Narcelles touched the wall with a time of 50.76 to place first in the 100 Fly. Escano was second at 51.07 and Max Lough was third at 51.39.

Daly posted the top time in the 200 IM at 1:52.81.

Denison capped the meet with the top time in the 200 Free Relay. Hensel, Coverdale, Noble and Hill timed in at 1:22.27.

Up Next: Eighth-ranked Denison returns to action when they travel to fourth-ranked Kenyon College on Saturday, Nov. 9 for their annual meet. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Gambier.
