Wisconsin D1 State Medalist Emily Macco Commits to Green Bay

Wisconsin-based Emily Macco will be staying close to home when she starts her NCAA swimming career, as she’s given her commitment to swim for the Green Bay women next season. Macco is already living in Green Bay, where she currently trains with the Green Bay YMCA club team. She’ll be making the transition to college swimming after she graduates from De Pere High School at the end of this school year.

Macco is improving her best times significantly this season, as she’s already dropped chunks of time from her personal bests in the 100 breast and 200 IM this season. At the 2016 Wiscinsin Division 1 Girls State Championships last weekend, she was a 2-time finalist with her swims in those events. Her highest finish came in the 100 breast, where she claimed the bronze medal with her 1:04.15. In the 200 IM, she popped a 2:06.28 for 7th.

Macco’s Top Times:

  • 100 breast- 1:04.15
  • 200 breast- 2:24.74
  • 200 IM- 2:06.28
  • 50 free- 25.43

Macco has the potential to bring in big points for Green Bay in her first year competing at the Horizon League Championships. Her times in the 100 breast and 200 IM are both within hundredths of what it took to qualify for the championship final in 2016, and are already fast enough to score in the B-final. Her time in the 200 breast is also good enough to have made the B-final last season.
