Winter Juniors Qualifier Thor Dyke Sends Commitment to William and Mary

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Thore Dyke, a Winter Juniors qualifier and Futures finalist, has announced his verbal commitment to William and Mary’s class of 2027. He will arrive in Williamsburg ahead of the 2023-2024 season.

I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to William and Mary! I would like to thank my parents, coaches and teammates for supporting me along the way. Go Tribe🔰

Dyke is from North Carolina, where he swims at the club level for the TAC Titans out of Cary. He currently attends Wake STEM Early College High School while swimming with Athens Drive High School in Raleigh.

Dyke excels in a variety of events, holding Winter Juniors qualifying times in the 1000 free, 1650 free, and 400 IM. He also holds Futures times in breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and IM events.

Best Times (SCY):

  • 200 free – 1:42.64
  • 500 free – 4:34.48
  • 1000 free – 9:24.84
  • 1650 free – 15:46.66
  • 100 back – 51.60
  • 200 breast – 2:06.95
  • 200 fly – 1:52.57
  • 400 IM – 3:58.80

At the 2022 North Carolina High School 4A (largest schools) State Championships, Dyke placed 10th in the 200 IM (1:54.18) and 21st in the 100 back (53.83) and. His 200 IM showing marked a new season-best, just over a second shy of his lifetime best set in March 2021.

This past summer, Dyke competed at the Cary Futures Championships in the 200 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM (all LCM). He qualified for finals and set new personal records in each. His highest placing in the meet came in the 400 IM, where he dropped nearly six seconds in 4:33.88.

In the 200 IM he dropped about a second and a half to go 2:09.76 for 27th. His 200 breaststroke time of 2:27.98 was a nearly seven-second drop, placing him 32nd overall.

William and Mary is a Division I Mid-Major program in Williamsburg, Virginia. They compete in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference. At the 2022 CAA Championships, the William and Mary men finished in 5th place out of 6 teams.

Dyke is set to be a very valuable asset for William and Mary. His best 1650 free time would have placed fourth at the 2022 CAA Championships. The Tribe’s sole competitor in that event, current senior Owen Miller, placed seventh. He would have been fifth in the 400 IM, coming in ahead of another current senior, Conor Sokolowsky, who finished sixth.
