Women’s Recap
WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary women’s swimming defeated Old Dominion 179-80 and ECU 185-73 in a double dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Bee McLeod Rec Center. Prior to the meet, the Tribe honored seniors Missy Cundiff, Ellie Henry, Anna Kenna, and Rebecca Rogers. The Green and Gold would take place in 11 of the 14 events in a dominant performance.
An all senior 200 medley relay team of Kenna, Henry, Rogers, and Cundiff took the gold medal with a 1:47.20 time to start the day, and Elizabeth Intihar followed with a win in the 1,000 free, besting the competition by 12 seconds. Katie Stevenson took the first of her two gold medal finishes swimming 1:53.35 in the 200 free, and Annie Tuttle picked up an individual win in the 100 breast.
Grace Tramack won her first of two events with a 2:07.38 time in the 200 butterfly before Cundiff blew away the competition with a 23.00 in her signature event, the 50 free. After the break, Stevenson picked up another win swimming a full second faster than the competition in the 100 free.
Kenna dominated from start to finish to take first in the 200 back, and Intihar and Devin Genderson went first and second respectively in the 500 freestyle. Tramack continued her impressive afternoon taking the 400 IM, and in the final race of the afternoon, Cundiff, Stevenson, Intihar, and Kenna swam a brisk 3:31.28 to win the 400 free relay.
With the wins the Tribe improves to 5-0 on the season in dual meets.
NEXT UP: The Tribe will hit the road next weekend for the final dual meet of the 2021-22 season. William & Mary will face Davidson next Saturday in North Carolina. Last season, the Tribe edged the Wildcats in a 132-130 thrilling victory.
Men’s Recap
WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- The William & Mary men’s swim team dominated from start to finish in a 166.5-93.5 win over Old Dominion Saturday afternoon at the Bee McLeod Rec Center. Seniors Jack Galbraith and Graham Hertweck were honored before the meet. With the win, the Tribe improves to 2-2 in dual meets this season. Overall the Tribe took first place in 11 of 14 events.
The winning began early Saturday as a relay team of Aaron Tingley, Kyle Demers, Kent Codding, and Eugenio Massari just touched out Micah Lowe, John O’Hara, Galbraith and Hertweck for a one, two finish in the 200 medley relay.
O’Hara continued his strong outing, besting the competition by a full three seconds in the 200 free, while Lowe and Tingley finished one two in the 100 back. The Tribe took all three podium spots in the 100 breast as Demers swam a 57.89 in his first competition this season out touching Noah Spain and Mills Harris.
Gavin Lamoureux and Cole Younger were first and third respectively in the 200 fly, and Hertweck’s blazing time of 20.95 ensured victory in the 50 free. After the break, Hertweck would once again take gold, this time with a 46.99 100 free.
Lowe won the 200 back by a full two seconds for his first individual win of the day, and in the 200 breast it would be Younger just reaching out in front of Spain for the first place finish. O’Hara Lamoureux, and Codding swept the podium in the 100 butterfly, and the 400 free relay team of Hertweck, Codding, Massari, and O’Hara capped off the day with a 3:07.86 time for a win in the 400 free relay.
Next Up: The Tribe’s final dual meet of the 2021-22 season will come next Saturday as the team visits Davidson. William & Mary edged the Wildcats in a 137-124 victory last season.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s swimming team defeated East Carolina Saturday afternoon 146.5-113.5 in a tri-meet at William &Mary. The women’s swimming squad fell to W&M 179-80, while the men had a 166.5-93.5 setback to the Tribe.
“It was a challenging but exciting day of racing to kick off the semester after winter training. The team has worked hard these past few weeks in preparation for the remainder of the season,” head coach Jess Livsey said. “Today’s meet gave us an opportunity to evaluate our progression. I am very proud of where we are as a team and I am looking forward to continued success over the next few weeks.”
In the opening event of the meet, ODU placed second in the 200 medley relay, as Tara Enneking, Gabby Tosi, Martina Ciriesi and Summer Miln came in with a time of 147.74.
The men’s 200 medley relay team of Gustaf Hansson, AJ Profaca, Liam Redman and Ryan Lincicum came in third with a time of 1:36.75.
In the 1000 freestyle, Brynn Jewell finished fourth with a time of 11:02.67.
Carson Doll won the first of two events in the 1000 freestyle, winning by more than eight seconds with a time of 9:59.34. Will McDermott came in third with a time of 10:19.30. Doll added another win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:50.42.
Miranda Byrne placed fourth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.87. In the men’s 200 freestyle, Ryan Lincicum placed second with a time of 1:46.74, while Thomas Ray came in third with a time of 1:47.56.
Tara Enneking got in the win column in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.46, while Summer Sampson came in fourth with a time of 59.05.
Jacob Cobb earned a third-place finish in the men’s 100 backstroke with a time of 52.57. The first three finishers were less than a second apart.
Marian Cheramy placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.42, while Profaca came in fourth in the men’s 100 breaststroke in 1:02.89
Elin Kata Sigurgeirsdottir placed fifth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.19.
Anthony Capizzi took second in the men’s 200 butterfly with a time of 1:58.50, while Zander Johnson took fourth with a time of 2:00.45.
Tara Enneking came in second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.19 and was followed closely by Summer Miln, who finished in third with a time of 24.45.
Liam Redman took second in the men’s 50 freestyle with a time of 21.41.
Summer Miln placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.45, while Redman and Lincicum placed second and third respectively, with times of 47.12 and 47.13.
Summer Sampson continued the top-three streak with a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.22.
Cobb and Hansson placed second and third with times of 1:55.56 and 1:57.60.
Enneking enjoyed another second-place spot with a time of 2:21.61 in the 200 breaststroke. Hugo Eriksson added a third in the men’s 200 breaststroke in 2:116.53.
Martina Ciriesi came in second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:35.06, while Cobb was triumphant in the men’s 400 IM with a time of 4:10.06.
The final event of the night was the 400 freestyle relay. Byrne, Laila Webb, Mary Dunworth and Miln took second for the women with a time of 3:37.99.
The men’s 400 free relay team of Redman, Grant Meadows, Doll and Lincicum also came in second, finishing in 3:11.05.
ODU hosts American on Saturday, Jan. 22 at noon.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Junior Caitlin Reynera captured her sixth win in the 200 breaststroke on the season, while senior Randi Palandro finished first in the 100 butterfly highlighting East Carolina’s performance at the William & Mary Tri-Meet against the Tribe and Old Dominion. The Pirates dropped both meets falling to host William & Mary 185-73 and ODU 146.5-113.5.
“With two events to go, we were only down 10 points to ODU,” head coach Matt Jabs said. “We just ran out of people to put in events. With a small roster, that’s just going to happen. Proud of the way our girls competed. They fought hard all day. We had some very good swims and look forward to competing at home next weekend against GA Southern.”
Freshman Meghan Armstrong set season-best times in the 100 free (55.91) and 100 back (1:01.56), while junior Meghan French posted her fastest time in the 1000 free (10:38.27) finishing in second place. Senior Chelsea Marstellar posted her best time of the year in the 200 back (2:11.25) taking fifth.
Against the Monarchs, the Pirates won seven events highlighted by French (1000 free), Marstellar (200 fly/2:08.43), Reynera (100 breaststroke/1:05.12; 200 breaststroke/2:19.03), Palandro (100 fly/57.99) and junior Polina Rukoseuv (200 free/1:55.69; 500 free/5:11.08).
French (500 free/5:20.46), Palandro (50 free/24.45, 100 free/53.81), Reynera (100 fly/58.24) and Rukosuev (1000 free/10;49.72) all took second in additional events against Old Dominion.
Against William & Mary, Palandro (100 fly) and Reynera (200 breaststroke) each claimed top honors, while French (1000 free), Marstellar (200 fly), Reynera (100 fly/58.24, 100 breaststroke) and Rukoseuv (200 free) finished second in other events.
ECU returns to the pool and diving well on Saturday, Jan. 22 when it hosts Georgia Southern inside Minges Natatorium. The final home meet of the season is set to begin at 1 p.m. (EST).
