December 12, 2014, College Park, MD – Age group sensation Reece Whitley, 14, from Penn Charter Aquatic Club, threw down a dynamite new age group record at this morningโ€™s prelims session at the Tom Dolan Invitational. ย The boys 13-14 100y breaststroke National Age Group (NAG) Record now belongs to Whitley, as he clocked a monster 53.84. ย This just slides by the previous NAG held by Michael Andrew of 53.88, but clobbers Whitleyโ€™s previous best time of 55.09 he achieved in mid-November at the GPAC Veterans Memorial meet.

Splits for Reece Whitleyย in this morning’s 100y breaststroke: 25.72, 28.12 (53.84)

Finals at Tom Dolan begin tonight at 6:05pm, with the 100y breaststroke slated as the first event. ย Whitley seems primed to do something special on this first day of the invitational, which runs through Sunday, December 14th.

Cassidy Bayer 53.34 in the 100 fly prelims. She’s ready for a 52 tonight.
Allie Szekely 4.07 in the 400 IM! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ In her 3rd race of the prelims! She looks back and really back. Even stronger than ever. I said 3 years ago she was a pure diamond to polish, a big natural talent, and it looked like she didn’t improve anymore. And boom today 100 breast PB, 100 fly PB and big 400 IM PB! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Best time for Miss Bayer too in 4.12.

Reece Whitley can drop another second tonight in my opinion.
Especially if he adds a second dolphin kick off each wall. ๐Ÿ™‚
Does he know it’s now allowed on breaststroke?
The FINA female swimmer of the year can do it. Why not Mr Whitley?

Watch below how to do it very discreetly without being disqualified.
Seriously, it’s revolting to see that FINA doesn’t apply the rules. ๐Ÿ˜ก

The thing that surprises me that nobody is doing or saying anything about it. Just like in London when Van der Burgh won gold :(. Not to taking anything about the awesome swim but just to the fact that Katinka cheated even though being named “female swimmer of the year”. In my opinion cheating is not worth of “female swimmer of the year”.

What i meant was the controversy about multiple dolphin kicks.

The double butterfly kick is clear ! Too obvious to be missed out by judges .

Already a NAG record? Mr Whitley has not even waited for the final. Congrats.
I also see in today’s results that Allie Szekely, who is now 16, swam a PB in the 100 breast prelims in 1.01.75. Is her breaststroke back in business?
And also that my US age group favorite on the boys’ side Destin Lasco, who is now 13, swam a new PB in the 200 free prelims in 1.45.08. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yesterday day 1 highlights
GIRLS
Great double for 12-year-old Chase Travis who won the 12 and under 500 free in a new PB of 4.57.39 and later the 200 back in 2.03.57.
Very good 16.01.83 for 16-year-old Megan Byrnes who won the… Read more ยป

I still can’t get over that Univ of MD built this world class swimming facility and then cancelled the mens and womens programs. Knucklehead administrators.
