New Britain, Conn. – In their third straight win this season, the Northeastern swimming and diving team’s 147-90 defeat over Central Connecticut State was highlighted by nine first-place finishes.
Most impressively, Matilda Weiler broke the pool record at the Blue Devils’ home waters in the 200Y IM with her first-place time 2:08.93.
Megan Clark and Carly Schnabel swept the freestyle wins, contributing 18 points apiece to the Huskies’ total score. In her first collegiate attempt at the 500Y freestyle, Clark nabbed first place with a time of 5:08.76 to add to her champion of the 50Y free at 23.82. Schnabel took care of the 100Y (52.95) and 200Y (1:54.29) freestyles, securing her best time in the former since Oct. 2016.
Tori Austin swam her first 200Y freestyle race for a third-place finish of 1:57.91 and Joanna Wojciechowska registered a season best 10:46.21 in the 1000Y freestyle for a second-place finish.
The divers proved their hard work by sweeping the top three spots in both the 1m and 3m dives. Maddie Schaefer championed the 1m with a season best score of 238.12 followed by Sabrina Chan (237.82) and Elly Morrison (228.22). Morrison tabbed her personal record score in the 3m dive at 265.55 for first place while Mackenzie Hagist dove her best at 243.15.

The Central Connecticut women’s swimming and diving team dropped a home dual meet to Northeastern on Saturday by the score of 147-90. Junior Valentina Gomez posted a first and second place finish in the meet, winning the 1,000 yard freestyle in a time of 10:41.27 to earn nine points for her team.
The Blue Devils began the day with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The team of senior Kaitlyn Troy, freshman Mariana Espino, sophomore Katelyn Mann and freshman Jeannette King finished with a time of 1:46.92 to grab four points.
Freshman Katie Czulewicz placed second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.58. Junior Grace Fredricks was fifth in 1:58.94 and sophomore Ivy Milne was sixth in 2:10.79 for the Blue Devils.
Freshman Simona Visinski placed fourth in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.07. Classmate Destiny Johnson was fifth in 25.46 and sophomore Erin Brown was sixth in 26.33.
Junior Gracie Regan placed second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:12.82. Junior Alexis Fredricks was fourth in 2:13.56.
The Blue Devils placed fifth, sixth and seventh in the 1 meter diving event. Nicolle White led the Blue Devils with a score of 126.15.
Gome was second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 58.27. Mann was fifth in 1:01.24 and freshman Hallie Perrin finished sixth in 1:03.84.
Visinski finished second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.02, while Czulewicz was third in 54.65 and Grace Fredricks was fifth in 55.89.
Troy finished second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 58.79. Alexis Fredricks was fourth in 1:00.10 and King fifth in 1:00.42.
Junior Erika Maercklein finished second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.12. Senior Aidan Devers was fourth in 5:14.29 and junior Keelin Kendall was sixth in 5:29.05.
Lauren Wilcox led the Blue Devils in the 3 meter diving with a score of 114.45.
Espino (1:08.82), Lindgren (1:09.83) and Mann (1:10.08) paced the Blue Devils in the 100 yard breaststroke.
The team of King, Visinski, Troy and Czulewicz swam the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:40.64 to lead CCSU.
The Blue Devils are back home next weekend hosting LIU Brooklyn on Senior Day on Saturday at 12 p.m.
