Villanova Snags Verbal Commitment from Pikes Peak Flyer Calum Lehman

Calum Lehman, a senior at Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, recently committed to Villanova University for 2018-19. Lehman is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who swims with Pikes Peak Athletics under the coaching staff of George and Anna Heidinger. In expressing his excitement to swim for the Wildcats, Lehman told SwimSwam:

“The most important aspect to my career has been the people in my life.  I’ve been training partners with Daniel Carr (a member of the National Junior Team now competing with the men’s team at the University of California Berkeley) for more than nine years.  I’ve been lucky enough to call Daniel my best friend and someone I aspire to be like every day.  I also train with George Heidinger who has gone from being a member of the USA National Team Staff to starting his own team out of Colorado Springs. After over 5 years of hard work and with his wife Anna Heidinger, George just recently built and opened their own training facility, the Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center.  George is someone that I am proud to call my mentor.”

While Lehman competed in the 100/200 fly and 200/400 IM at Winter Juniors West, he swam his best SCY times at the Speedo Music City Invitational hosted by Nashville Aquatic Club in December. There, he established lifetime bests in the 200 free, 100 back, 100/200 fly, and 400 IM. Many of his best LCM times come from the summer before his junior year, while competing at Western Zone Senior Championships in Clovis.

In addition to his swimming, Lehman is an A.P. Scholar With Distinction and an accomplished musician. He is active in his community through volunteerism and community service.

Best SCY times:

  • 100 fly – 51.49
  • 200 fly – 1:51.29
  • 200 IM – 1:54.24
  • 400 IM – 4:01.10

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].

Why would I place my photo in front of such Beauty of Nature but not to picture myself next to the swimming pool or in my usual environment? Sorry, I didn’t get the message.

Nice!I love the shout out to his training partners. Don’t see enough of that – “attitude of gratitude” as the great Josh Davis would say. Villanova has a great business school among other programs. Wishing you much success there.
