VIDEO: Lochte, Feigen, Conger, Bentz On Security Cam Footage From Rio

From our full report here:

An Associated Press report says Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz have confirmed that the story of a gunpoint robbery in Rio was fabricated.

Conger and Bentz were with Jimmy Feigen and Ryan Lochte early Sunday morning when Lochte said they were robbed at gunpoint.

But Brazilian police have alleged that no robbery took place, but that the four were involved in an altercation at a gas station that led to damages to the gas station bathroom.

Conger and Bentz were pulled off of their airplane home from Rio to speak to police about the incident. And now the Associated Press is reporting that the two confirmed that the robbery story was made up.

According to the AP report, Lochte first lied about the robbery when speaking to his mother. She then told the story to reporters, which is when the story became widely reported in the media.

Brazilian police say the swimmers stopped at the gas station to use the bathroom, but broke the door upon finding it locked. There are allegations of other damages to the bathroom as well. The swimmers were confronted by a security guard who was armed, though there are conflicting reports as to whether or not he took out his gun while dealing with the swimmers. You can read several of the differing accounts here.

Lochte is currently back in the United States, while the other three remain in Brazil until the situation is resolved.

Sounds about right

Call Me Herb

Show the footage in its entirety, already. These guys were in the wrong, yes, but not to the extent that the media’s purporting.

I think the bigger deal is not only the initial lie, but doubling down in the lie when questioned about it.

Yabo Squandrant

only lochte and feigen claimed they were robbed at gunpoint

I’m sorry, would you care to point out how these guys were in the wrong for being robbed?! There’s absolutely NO evidence in this or the extended footage of ANY vandalism on their part.

So, going to take a wild guess here. Since they were probably blitzed from the party. Security guard, or police. whoever probably asked for ID. maybe took their wallets and lochte thought he was being robbed. but also sounds like he made up a story to cover up their destruction. either way looks bad.

Did you not read the above;
Both Conger and Bentz already stated Lochte made up the robbery story.
This “lochte thought he was being robbed” did NOT happen.

shut your mouth. you don’t know what was going through his head. he was probably scared and didn’t know what was happening to him.

Victor P

You’re really good with the misreporting and innuendo. That report was about an official who’s made allegations that they said that. There is no proof that Conger and Bentz said any such things!

Attila did this with Efimova, too.

Honestly, you have to be dumb as rocks to not know why a “security” guard would draw them outside of camera range all the while Lochte’s hands are raised up. This is NOT on the up and up. Also, why would the police release Lochte after some casual questioning if there was nothing ontoward suspected by them on the part of Lochte’s retelling of the incident to them. Lochte himself claimed that he was surprised how unmethodical they were about the process. He expected to be questioned a lot more and for the matter to take on a more serious investigation.

I’m not saying he was robbed. I’m saying he made up the story so your just agreeing with me.
