Kai Wisner of Syracuse, New York and Victor Swim Club has verbally committed to the University at Buffalo.
“UB is such a great fit for me. I really like the closeness of the team. The college of engineering offers everything I was looking for academically and the swim program gives me the challenges and opportunity to contribute to the team’s success that I wanted.”
Wisner attends Westhill High School in Syracuse, and is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Summer Junior Nationals qualifier and Winter Junior Nationals scorer. His top SCY times are:
- 200 free – 1:45.04
- 500 free – 4:34.22
- 1000 free – 9:26.58
- 1650 free – 15:37.08
- 400 IM – 4:08.15
- 200 back – 1:53.87
Wisner’s best time in the 1650 free would have landed solidly in the top 8 at 2016 MAC Championships, while his 500 free and 400 IM would have just missed qualifying for the B finals (the MAC only scores two finals at conference championships).
Distance events have been among UB’s strengths at the conference level. With the graduation of three of their distance swimmers this past year, the Bulls are looking to rebuild the group with fresh talent. Wisner is the latest addition to what is becoming a very good training group of mid-distance and distance swimmers at UB under coach Andy Bashor and his coaching staff.
