Verbal to Alabama is Like “Going Home” for Backstroker Alex Robinson

The Crimson Tide have secured yet another verbal to add to those of Andrey Tretyakov, Christian Strycker, and Michael Burris; Alabama’s newest commit is Alex Robinson of Memphis, Tennessee.

Robinson (known as “Christopher” in the USA Swimming database) is a senior at Memphis University School and swims for Memphis Tiger Swim Club. At the 2016 TISCA Tennessee High School Swimming and Diving Championships, Robinson was runner-up in the 100 back (48.75) and finished third in the 200 free (1:40.13). He led off MUS’ first-place 200 medley relay as well as their winning 400 free relay, contributing significantly to their #1 overall team finish in the men’s meet.

Robinson competed in the 100m back at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, but he is also an accomplished distance freestyler. He finished 17th in the 1500m free and 20th in the 100m back at U.S. Open in August.
