Updated FINA Junior World Records After 2014 European Junior Championships

After the conclusion of the 2014 European Junior Championships last weekend, the first major Junior international meet since FINA started accepting Junior World Records on April 1.

That means that most of the records were broken, and while in the majority of cases, they’re still not true “World Junior bests,” they are still the records that FINA is officially recognizing.

With U.S. Juniors, the Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacs, and Euros coming up in the next few weeks, we put our nose to the results sheets and made our best pass at updating the official Junior World Records as of the end of Euro Juniors. As always, these are tentative until formally recognized by FINA, and if we’ve missed any, please let us know.

Note: Those swims where the meet is listed as the Junior World Championships are not technically “Junior World Records,” rather they’re the standards that FINA is requiring to be cleared before a Junior World Record is being recognized in the event. Most people are treating them as such anyway, so we’ve included them in the list below.

Shouldn’t the 400m im be 4:14.51 by Gunnar Bentz from summer juniors last year?

Russia’s relay (the women) is pretty much the same as their National Team relay (sans Efimova, of course). Their future looks bright.

Fina did not recognize Sedov 22.02 ( I think) from sedov from a few months ago? Or the 22.07 from last week?

I have a dream.
A French swimmer with a world junior record.
When I see the state of our junior team and more generally of our succession, I think it will not happen before a very long time.

Also do not forget that YOG is in a few weeks also.. 50/100 free men side and if Solnceva swims the 200 breast will probably be broken..
