SIOUX FALLS, SD – After a strong start in Sioux Falls Friday night, the UNI swim and dive team continued that performance Saturday morning. The Panthers two day meet included St. Cloud State, Western Illinois, South Dakota State, and South Dakota.
UNI swept the weekend after picking up three wins Friday night and four Saturday morning over St. Cloud State (161-80), South Dakota State (155-87), Western Illinois (202-22), and South Dakota (155-88).
The Panthers won both relays, the 200 yard medley of Helena Heuberger, Moriah Ross, Olivia Clark, and Madeline Webb (1:47.15), and the 400 freestyle relay of Katie Taylor, Kylie Engstrom, Jordan McCullough, and Sydney Schmidt (3:32.22).
Swimmers Moriah Ross, Katie Taylor, and Sydney Schmidt each won two individual events for the Panthers. Moriah Ross won the 200 breaststroke (2:19.31) and the 100 IM (59.17). Katie Taylor won the 200 freestyle (1:51.61) and the 200 backstroke (1:59.24). Sydney Schmidt won the 100 freestyle (52.33) and the 50 freestyle (23.77).
Kylie Engstrom added a first place finish in the 1650 freestyle (17:32.54) and a second place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:05.56).
The Panthers will face South Dakota again Saturday, November 9 at 11 a.m. in Cedar Falls.

The St. Cloud State University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams completed their weekend of competition at the South Dakota Quad Duals in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Nov. 2 with a pair of victories over NCAA Division I rival Western Illinois University. The SCSU men’s team charted a 168.00-46.00 win over WIU and the women’s team rolled to a 189.00-28.00 win over WIU.
In other dual meet action on Nov. 2 at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls, the SCSU men’s team lost a 163.00-78.00 match against DI rival South Dakota and also posted a 144.00-96.00 loss to DI opponent South Dakota State. The SCSU women’s team lost 142.00-100.00 to DI foe South Dakota and also lost 161.00-80.00 to Northern Iowa and 136.00-105.00 to South Dakota State (both NCAA DI rivals).
In the 1M diving competition, SCSU’s Madison Brinkman placed third with a score of 228.60 and teammate Alyssa Doherty placed fourth at 228.00. Doherty also led SCSU in the women’s 3M diving with a second place finish of 248.05.
The SCSU women’s 200 medley relay team of Marena Kouba, Alexis Burroughs, Kasey Milstroh and Chelsea Gehrke placed third at 1:47.56, and the SCSU men’s relay team of Kevin Guenter, Jayden Porter, Kyle Weis and Abe Townley placed second at 1:35.89.
The Huskies brough home a 1st and 2nd place in the men’s 1650 free as Gavin Bloch won the race with a time of 16:46.20 and David Clossey was second at 16:46.20. In the women’s 200 free, Milstroh placed third for SCSU with a time of 1:54.42 and Gehrke was SCSU’s top placer in the 50 free at 24.09. In the men’s 50 free, Townley gained first place with a top time of 20.70.
In the women’s 100 IM, Burroughs placed third for SCSU with a time of 1:00.30, and Matheus Laperriere led SCSU’s men in the event with a second place time of 53.99. In the men’s 200 fly, Garrett Alleven placed fourth with a top team time of 1:58.16 for the Huskies.
Milstroh led the Huskies in the 100 free with a fourth place time of 53.49, and Laperriere placed second in the men’s 100 free at 46.65. SCSU’s Andrea Hernandez placed third in the 200 back at 1:56.81 and Guenter placed fourth in the same event at 1:56.88.
Porter added another top place for the Huskies int he 200 breaststroke with a fourth place time of 2:12.81. In the 400 free relay, SCSU’s women’s team of Gehrke, Alaina Friske, Rosalind Pang and Christina Ware placed fourth with a time of 3:38.32 and the men’s 400 free relay team of Townley, Kyle Weis, Joel Huth and Laperriere placed second with a time of 3:08.96.

SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota swimming and diving teams wrapped up the two-day USD Quad Duals held at Midco Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday with an 8-4 dual mark.
The Coyote men’s squad went a perfect 5-0 over the two days of competition while the women’s team had a 3-4 mark.
The men’s team totaled four individual victories on each day of events while also sweeping the four relays that were contested over the two days. Overall, the men produced 15 top three finishes in individual events each day. Meanwhile, the women’s team had three individual victories and a combined 17 top three finishes over the two days.
Saturday saw the men’s team post wins over St. Cloud State (163-78), Western Illinois (200-32) and South Dakota State (145-98).
Charlie Bean, a sophomore, had a pair of individual wins, taking the 200 free (1:41.97) and 100 free (46.25). Elbert Chuang (100 IM), Jacob Won (200 fly) and Hudson Wilkerson (1M Diving) were also victorious on Saturday.
The quartet of Ben Kopp, James Ryan, Brady Torborg and Cooper Fuchs won the 200 medley relay in 1:35.82 while Bean, Zach Kopp, Chuang and Fuchs swam 3:04.79 to win the 400 free relay.
Finishing second on day two for the Coyotes were Stephen Johnson (200 free), Fuchs (50 free) Seth Jones (500 free) and Chuang (200 breast).
Third-place efforts went to Jones (1,650 free), Won (200 free), Wilkerson (3M Diving), Anthony Mudek (1M Diving) and Zach Kopp (50 and 100 free).
The women’s team posted wins on Saturday over St. Cloud State (142-100) and Western Illinois (198.5-28.5) while dropping duals to South Dakota State (131-112) and Northern Illinois (155-88).
Kristen Quigley snagged a victory in the 200 fly in 2:12.26 while Haley Pederson earned a win in the 3-meter diving competition with a season-high 272.6 points.
Runner-up finishes for the women came from Sabrina Sabadeanu in the 200 back (2:06.70) and Pederson in the one-meter diving competition.
Maria Mattaini (500 free), Lucie Anderson (200 back) and Jordyn Schnell (100 free) posted third-place efforts.
South Dakota men posted wins on Friday over St. Cloud State (156-84) and South Dakota State (145-97).
Fuchs, a freshman, had a pair of individual victories in the 50 free and 100 free while his 20.73 clocking in the 50 free moved him into sixth on the Coyote Top 10 chart.
Won (500 free), Jake Leichner (100 breast) and Wilkerson (3M diving) also won individual events on Friday. Meanwhile the Coyote foursome of Torborg, Leichner, Won and Bean won the 400 medley relay in 3:28.84 and Fuchs, Bean, Torborg and Leichner won the 200 free relay in 1:23.45.
Runner-up finishes came from Bean (200 free), Won (100 fly) and Zach Kopp (100 free).
Third-place efforts came from Jones (1,000 free, 500 free), Wyatt Thompson (200 free), Mack Sathre (400 IM), Chuang (100 fly), Ryan (100 breast) and Wilkerson (1M diving).
The women’s squad posted a 136-106 win over St. Cloud State while falling to South Dakota State (121.5-120.5) and Northern Iowa (160-82).
Madilyn Sindelar swam to victory in the 100 fly in 57.43 while runner-up performances came from Schnell (50 free, 100 free), Cassie Ketterling (400 IM) and Sabadeanu (100 back).
Quigley also picked up a third in the 1,000 free while also earning third-place finishes were Sabadeanu (100 fly), Mattaini (500 free), Meghan Atwell (100 breast) and Pederson (1M diving).
Seth O’Dea, a junior, was the third Coyote to post a new mark inside the school’s top 10 list following his season-best of 280.05 on the one-meter diving event on Friday. His point total moves him into seventh on the all-time list.
The Coyote women travel to Ames to take on Iowa State on Friday before squaring off with Northern Iowa on Saturday. The men’s team has the weekend off.

SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State swimming and diving wrapped up day two of the South Dakota Quad-Duals Saturday at the Midco Aquatic Center, winning five duals between both the men’s and women’s teams.
“We continue to improve with each competition,” said head coach Doug Humphrey. “The team is having fun and being successful as a result. It’s early in the season but I like where we are going.”
The women defeated USD 131-112, Western Illinois 196-28 and St. Cloud State 136-105 while falling to Northern Iowa 155-87.
The men beat WIU 184-47 and SCSU 144-96 and dropped their matchup with USD 145-98.
Women
Two first-place finishes and 11 top-three finishes highlighted day two of the quad-duals event for the women.
Sprint
The Jacks finished three freshmen in the top-five in the 50 free with Katie Drezen placing third (24.21), Elisabeth Timmer fourth (24.24) and Grace Witherspoon fifth (24.41). Timmer later finished second in the 100 free with a time of 53.21.
Emily Pincus opened day two with another strong swim, this time placing second in the 200 free (1:54.10).
Ashley Theobald placed second in the 100 IM with a time of 59.32, good for fifth all-time at SDSU in the event.
Liezl Ocon (2:12.38) and Kristen Davis (2:13.35) placed second and third respectively in the 200 Fly.
Distance
Pincus won her third event of the weekend, placing first in the 500 free with a time of 5:04.40. Maria Currie paced the Jacks in the 1,650 free with a third-place finish in 18:20.81.
Relays
The women’s 200 medley relay ‘A’ team (Tiffany Nguyen, Kady Harris, Davis, Theobald) placed fourth in the event in a time of 1:49.44.
In the 400 free relay, the women’s ‘A’ squad (Pincus, Timmer, Megan Schulte, Drezen) placed second with a time of 3:34.24.
Diving
Quincee Simonson won the 1-meter with a season-best score of 241.15 and led the women in the 3-meter with a fifth-place finish (238.55).

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The Western Illinois men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs officially got a feel for different competition in the South Dakota Quad Duals on Saturday (Nov. 2).
Adam Peterson netted fourth in the 50-free (21.10) and Brennan Bladel registered a sixth-place finish in the 200-back (1:58.05). Connor Owens also finished in sixth in the 200-breast (2:14.52).
Tyler Cunningham almost brought home an individual win in the 200-fly (1:56.83) but ultimately placed in second.
On the Western Illinois women’s swimming side, newcomer Olivia Leslie logged 12th in an ultra-competitive 200-back (2:13.67). Another newcomer Allison Spielman came in ninth place out of 28 competitors in the 50-free (24.91) and Miranda Mathus finished seventh in the 100-IM with a time of 101.66.
The Purple and Gold 200-medley relay team of Garret Kemp, Peterson, Owens and Bladel connected for fifth with a slot of 1:38.98. The women’s 200-medley relay squadron of Leslie, Mathus, Spielman and Mathus touched in 1:51.69 for sixth place.
Up next is a dual meet against Saint Louis inside Brophy Hall at 1 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 9).
