The UMBC women’s swimmers won all dozen individual events and both relays in a meet versus Manhattan and St. Peter’s at the UMBC Aquatic Complex.
UMBC defeated Manhattan,195-62 and St. Peter’s, 201-37.
Makaela Hill and Nyah Stahl led the way as each senior won three events. Hill took the 50 and 100 freestyle and also won the 50 yard butterfly, while Stahl captured both sprint backstroke events and the 100 individual medley.
Sophomore Telma Maltesjö won a pair of events, touching first in the 100 breaststroke and winning the grueling 400 IM.
Other individual winners for UMBC were sophomore Bruna de Padua (200 freestyle), junior Elze Bielskute (50 breaststroke), freshman Megan Gangaway (500 freestyle), and senior Roaa Farag (100 butterfly).
The wins for Bielskute and Gangaway were their first in the black and gold.
UMBC won both the opening 400 medley relay and closing 200 freestyle relay.
“It was a great effort in the pool all the way around,” said Head Coach Matt Donovan. “We put a lot of focus on power and sprinting this week in practice and it really showed off today”.
The Retrievers will return to action on Dec. 1-3, when they compete in the Bucknell Invitational.
BALTIMORE – Senior Daniel Nicusan earned three golds and junior Oliver Gassmann collected a pair as the UMBC swimmers defeated Manhattan and St. Peter’s in a three-team meet at the UMBC Aquatic Center.
UMBC defeated Manhattan, 190-61, and St. Peter’s, 170-90.
Nicusan won both individual medley events (100, 400) and sprinted home with a win in the 50 breaststroke. Gassmann captured both sprint butterfly races.
Seniors Charles Bennici (500 free), Ethan Riser (100 back) and junior Christian Coleman (50 free) also triumphed for the host Retrievers.

“We asked the guys to step up in some new roles today and they answered the call,” said Head Coach Matt Donovan. “We are setting up well for the mid-season meet at Bucknell in a few weeks. Today was an important building block.”
