DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women’s swim and dive team concluded the 2023-24 regular season with a win over the University of the Pacific. The 186-105 win at Schaal Aquatics Center boosts the Aggies’ record to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the MPSF.
“This afternoon was all about the seniors and it felt great to send them out with a win for their final home meet at Schaal,” head coach Matt Macedo said after the meet.
The Aggies said farewell to eight graduating seniors: Jessica Chu, Melina Dimick, Jay Jay Eaton, Talia Mickelsen, Elle Motekaitis, Noel Riely, Allie Robinson and Kailee Ruiz.
The Tigers opened the meet with consecutive event wins in the 200 yard medley relay and 1000 yard freestyle before the Aggies began to gain control of the meet.
Elsie Luisetti won the 200 yard freestyle (1:51.16) and Kayla Gregory logged her first career event win in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:04.41).
Naomi Boegholm won both short distance freestyle events, swimming a 23.38 in the 50 free and a 51.04 in the 100 free.
Sam Rhodes headed up the 200 breast (2:19.67) and Kailee Ruiz swam a 2:06.38 to win the 200 yard IM.
The Aggies cleaned up on the diving boards, competing unopposed, as Leila Busch won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
UC Davis closed out the afternoon by taking the top two spots in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Katie McLain, Christy Douglas, Sophi MacKay and Boegholm were members of the winning ‘A’ relay squad.
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Aggies turn their sights to the MPSF Championship in February. The divers will travel to Mission Viejo, Calif. To compete from Feb. 12-14, while the swimmers will be in St. George, Utah from Feb. 21-24.

DAVIS, Calif.- Pacific women’s swimming raced to seven first place finishes in the 186-105 loss to UC Davis. The Tigers (3-5), weeks away from the MPSF Championships, are seeing some of their best racing in anticipation of the three day event.
Pacific opened the afternoon with the 200 medley relay, taking first place with a 1:44.09, the third fastest time in the event this year. They bested UC Davis (7-2) by .45 of a second.
The Tigers kept up the pace as sophomore Diana Chan took first in the 1000 free with a 10:21.91, beating the field by nearly six seconds. The sophomore shaved 11.79 seconds off her fastest time this season to claim the new top-time in the 1000 free this year.
Junior Jordyn Gonzales got to the wall first with a 57.61 in the 100 back for a new personal best. Senior Caitlin Tan captured first in the 200 fly with a season best 2:02.14, the fastest time by a Tiger in the event this year.
Junior Alexia Ferguson clocked a 23.82 to finish second in the 50 free for a new personal best. The time ranks second on the team in the event this year.
Junior Kelly Kermoian took first in the 200 back with a 2:03.57, her second fastest time this year. Junior Paige Sondgeroth raced a season best 2:22.19 for a fourth place finish in the 200 breast.
Finding season bests in both the 50 free and the 200 back was junior Madison Rishwain. She clocked a 26.24 in the 50 free and a 2:13.40 in the 200 back
Junior Jadyn Phillips claimed the first place finish in the 500 free with a season best 5:03.22.
Tan returned for the 100 fly, besting Davis by .24 of a second to take first with a 55.24. Freshman Patty Torres clocked a season best 2:11.99 in the 200 IM, taking fourth in the event.
The Tigers wrapped the day with a third place finish in the 200 free relay with a 1:37.26.
The women return the first weekend of February for two separate meets, starting with the UC Santa Barbara Invite on Friday, Feb. 2.
