The Toledo swimming and diving team will head to Lexington, Ky. this weekend for a tri-meet against two nationally-ranked powerhouses, Kentucky and Ohio State. Kentucky comes into the meet ranked No. 15 in the country, while Ohio State ranks No. 17 nationally.
“I’m excited to see what we can do in our first meet coming back from winter break,” commented head coach Jonas Persson. “The format of the meet is unique, and there will be a lot of opportunity for fast swimming. Kentucky and Ohio State are great teams with tons of talent, but I think we can keep up in a few races. Most of all, this is a great learning opportunity for our team.”
The Rockets return to the pool in the new year after closing out the 2017 portion of their schedule on Dec. 21 with a loss to Florida Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers. Senior Allison Dicke led the way for the Rockets, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Dicke also placed second in the 400-yard freestyle relay along with sophomoreIzzy Jones, freshman Alida Ramden, and freshman Lisa Eriksson.
The two-day tri-meet is scheduled to begin Friday at 2:00 p.m. The Rockets will return home after this weekend for senior night on Friday, Jan. 13, honoring the program’s nine senior student-athletes.
