COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nevada junior Teresa Baerens has been named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while Wyoming junior Keely Bishop has earned MW Women’s Diver of the Week honors for competition completed through Sunday, October 25. It is the first MW weekly accolade for both student-athletes.
WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
TERESA BAERENS, NEVADA
Junior, Ottobrun, Germany / Max-Josef-Shift Gymnasium
• Led Nevada to a first-place finish (1,020 points) at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, California on October 23-24.
• Won three individual events, placed second in one event and swam on three winning relay teams.
• Started the meet on Friday with wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.28) and 200-yard individual medley (2:04.22). Both times rank first in the Mountain West.
• Won the 100-yard freestyle (51.29) and placed second in the 400-yard individual medley (4:26.11) on Saturday. Her 400-IM time ranks second in the Conference while her 100-free mark is fourth.
• Anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:26.59) and 400-yard medley relay (3:49.62) teams. Swam the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.75).
WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
KEELY BISHOP, WYOMING
Junior, Eaton Hill, Queensland, Australia / Citipointe HS
• Place in top-3 in four events last week as Wyoming went on the road to defeat New Mexico State (178-122) and New Mexico (170-130).
• Won the 1-meter springboard event at NMSU with a score of 271.05 and placed third in the 3-meter springboard (260.90). Her mark in the 1-meter qualifies for NCAA Zones.
• Won the 3-meter at UNM with an NCAA Zones-qualifying score of 296.85. She place second in the 1-meter with a mark of 255.45.
