Cal, Michigan, and Georgia continue to duke it out at the UGA Invite, giving swim fans a preview of what’s to come at the NCAA Championships.
On Friday it was the 200 IM. Twenty-four hours later, Hugo Gonzalez knocked off another Auburn school record, smashing the field in winning the 400 IM on night two of the Georgia Invitational.
Michigan’s Siobhan Haughey is still on fire. She dropped a full second from her best time to win the 200 IM, meeting the NCAA ‘A’ standard with a 1:53.48.

After an opening month in which it played host to four teams over three home meets, the Auburn swimming and diving program is on the road for the first time this weekend, traveling to South Carolina for a Saturday dual meet in Columbia.
On Friday, the Tide traveled to SEC and in-state rival Auburn for dual meet action. The women were victorious, giving them their first dual meet victory over Auburn since 1996. On the men’s side, however, Auburn prevailed.
The Aggies won all of the individual freestyle races on the women’s side, with freshman standout Haley Yelle impressing in the distance events.
For senior Caroline Baddock and junior Erin Falconer, their journeys to captaincy of Auburn’s women’s swimming and diving teams could not be any more contrasting.
Jones led the Wildcats in a 1-2-3 sweep of both the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyle events vs. Eastern Michigan.
The Tennessee men pulled off a close victory against host team Auburn. They also took down Wisconsin in the tri-meet. Auburn’s women were able to bring home wins against both Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Meynen, who has been undefeated in the 100 free at dual meets since her freshman season (2016-17), extended her winning streak with a 49.46 to outpace Wisconsin’s Emmy Sehmann (49.96).
