Scott Lyons of SwimMAC Carolina and Providence High School in Charlotte has announced his verbal commitment to the Arizona State University class of 2023. He wrote on social media:
“I am super excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Arizona State! Many thanks to everyone that’s helped me along the way! Forks up!”
Lyons specializes mainly in breast and IM. As a junior he placed fifth in the 100 breast (57.49) and sixth in the 100 fly (51.09) at the 2017 NCHSAA 4A State Championships. He further helped Providence finish fourth in the men’s standings with legs on the third-place 200 medley relay (25.64 breast) and third-place 400 free relay (46.76).
In club swimming, Lyons has had an outstanding senior year spring. He went best times in the 100 back, 100/200 breast, 100 fly, and 200 IM at the Cary Sectionals last month, winning the 100/200 breast and coming in second in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 fly.
Top SCY times:
- 100 breast – 55.08
- 200 breast – 2:00.68
- 200 IM – 1:50.85
- 100 fly – 49.25
- 50 free – 21.41

Tremendous choice Scott. You’ll never regret your decision to swim for & study at ASU. Wishing you the best there! Fork em?
Guess there are 8 individuals out there (at the moment) who either don’t wish Scott success at ASU, feel that he will regret his choice, or don’t want him to “fork em”! Might understand the last reason (maybe) but what sad lives you 8 must lead not to wish this young man success at his school of choice. I’ll just leave it at that since there is “no shame for the shameless”!
Nice pick up!
