THE BRONX, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn women’s swimming and diving rolled to a 163-87 win over Manhattan Saturday afternoon. The team was led by sophomore Elayna Pistrin, who won three events on the day.
Pistrin notched victories in the 100-yard IM, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Her times were 1:00.08, 5:22.91 and 59.49. She was the only swimmer to break the one-minute mark in the 100-yard butterfly.
Teammate Boel Bergquist won the 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:11.04. She also took second in the 100-yard IM.
Mariajose Lopez won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:41.48.
Laetitia Bouc also had a victory, finishing the 50-yard freestyle in 27.48 seconds. Catheryne Motoda won the 50-yard breaststoke (34.54), as she was victorious by over a second.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Lotte Backx, Pistrin, Melie Boulianne and Isabella Colares won their event by under a second to the team of Margo Koets, Raquel Torrez, Bouc and Lopez (1:56.03, 1:56.90).
The Terriers are back in action Saturday, November 5 at Wagner with Felician.
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – ST. Francis Brooklyn men’s swimming and diving put together several strong finishes en route to a dominating 199-47 win over Manhattan Saturday afternoon. The Terriers had a number of first place finishes in the win.
The 200-yard medley relay squad of Paul Melcer, Victor Fuentes, Robin Tator and Robin Grabowski kicked things off with a win with a time of 1:38.66.
Jedi Morland Janes followed that up with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:05.87. He also won the 500-yard freestyle by nearly 10 seconds (4:56.29).
Toni Dragoja won the 50-yard backstroke event with a time of 24.92. Daniel Santos Matheus won the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events with times of 48.30 and 1:44.59 respectively.
Robert Wagner also had a strong day, notching wins in the 50 and 100-yard butterfly (23.76 and 52.21).
Melcer won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.48. Teammate Fuentes won the 100-yard breaststroke and took second in the 50-yard breaststroke.
The meet was capped off with a win by the 200-yard freestyle relay team, notching a time of 1:29.22, winning by over three seconds.
The Terriers are back in action Saturday, November 5 at Wagner.

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan women’s swimming and diving team fell to St. Francis Brooklyn with a final score of 163-87.
Saturday’s meet marked the first home meet for Manhattan since Jan. 26, 2020. The dual meet took place at the Jeffrey H. Loria Family Aquatic Center.
“It was exciting to have our first home meet in nearly two years, I along with the kids were very excited to have the opportunity to compete at the Jeffrey H. Loria Family Aquatic Center,” said head coach Eric Rasmussen
Despite losing the meet, the Jaspers performed very well in the individual races. Mackenzie Tuttle came in first in the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyles with times of 1:59.39 and 57.21, earning the Jaspers 18 points. Kyla Guilfoil came in first place in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 29.23, only .05 seconds ahead of second place. For the 50-yard freestyle, Abbey Mink and Teddy Segmuller took first and second for the Jaspers with times of 2.25 and 25.79.
The Jaspers won the 200-yard relay with a final time of 1:44.66, scoring Manhattan 11 points. Tuttle, Guilfoil, Shayna Millard, and Mink made up the relay.
Manhattan swims again on Friday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. against Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J.

It’s the time of year where there’s a lot of kids getting sick, so we had a few kids out and some not performing at 100%.”
In individual races, Joe Brennan came in second place in the 50-yard freestyle with a final time of 22.39, trailing 0.20 seconds behind first place. For the 100-yard backstroke, Abelardo Cartagena came in second with a time of 56.99, scoring the Jaspers four points. Branden Deiss placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:06.11.

For relays, the Jaspers placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:40.65. Andrew Lebak, Joe Brennan, Cartagena, and Islam Yousri were the quartet for the Jaspers.
Manhattan swims again on Friday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. against Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J.
