South Carolina Swim Club is excited and proud to announce the appointment of Nate Murray as the new Head Coach of SCSC.

Murray began his swimming career at the age of 6, and it remains alive to this day (both as a coach and as an athlete)! In the water, Nate has knowledge of the competitive process – from being an unranked 10&U to being a US National Championship finalist and Olympic Trials qualifier, he has seen nearly every step of the journey and has an appreciation for each unique step. His career culminated with participating at the NCAA Championships and being the University of Tennessee Men’s team captain, though his plans for the 2020 US Olympic Trials were cut short by COVID.

As a coach, Nate is beginning his fourth professional year as a year-round coach. He learned organizational strength and operation at SwimMAC, (the team for which he swam as an 18 and under) while being the lead coach of 10 and unders, 11-12s, and college groups. He moved to Charleston in 2021 to further his learning and development at SCSC. Since the move, he has coached across each age group in various capacities. He now focuses primarily on the 12-18 year-old athletes across both of SCSC’s training locations and serves as the Head Coach for SCSC. Murray is also the Age Group Committee chair for the South Carolina LSC where he serves on the board of directors for the state.

A word from Coach Nate: “I am grateful for this team, for the athletes whom I get to coach, and for the parents and coaches who have put their belief and trust in me. This is a time of great opportunity for SCSC – I look forward to advancing us towards constant improvement and providing our athletes with every opportunity possible to learn, grow, have fun, and compete at high levels. I love fast swimming; I also love helping others become the best young leaders they can be. I look forward to helping our athletes learn how to be leaders – both in the lane and in life!”
