South Carolina HS Champ Jessi Snover Verbally Commits to Gardner-Webb

Jessica Snover, of Greer, South Carolina, has verbally committed to join the Gardner-Webb University Bulldogs’ class of 2021.

“Gardner-Webb is where I want to be. It fits my dream of attending a smaller Christian liberal arts college close to home and swimming at a NCAA D1 school. The atmosphere, the swimmers and the coaches make the best combination I have found. They are like a family! I can’t wait to train under Coaches Mike Simpson, Tanya Hobbs and Josh Stanfield!”

A senior at Riverside High School in Greer, Snover is the reigning SCHSL 5A state champion in both the 200 IM and 100 fly; she has won the latter event in each of the last two years. Swimming for the Riverside Warriors, led by Eddie Hughes, at the 2016 state meet, she split a 23.80 on the first-place 200 free relay to help set a new state record, and anchored the winning 400 free relay in 52.13. She was a member of the Riverside quartet that set the record in 2013. Snover helped the Warriors bring home the 5A women’s team title in 2016, and before that, the 4A team title for the previous 3 years in a row. She has earned the MVP/High Point award for 5 straight seasons.

Snover swims year-round for Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club, and has qualified YMCA Nationals, Winter Junior Nationals and Summer Junior Nationals in multiple events. Her top events are the 100 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM; she was a B-finalist in all three events at the 2016 YMCA Long Course National Championships.
