South Carolina 5A Finalist Michaela Rogers Commits to BU Terriers

Michaela Rogers, a senior at Dorman High School in Roebuck, South Carolina, has committed to swim for Boston University beginning in the fall of 2017. Rogers swims year-round for Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club, under coach Bart Simonson at their Thomas E. Hannah YMCA site.

“I’m incredibly excited to get to swim with the Terriers! Anytime I’ve gotten to visit, I’ve been blown away by the team culture, and I can’t wait to be a part of it!”

Rogers was a finalist in both the 100 free (8th) and 100 breast (10th) at the 2016 SCHSL 5A State Championship last month. The 55.04 she went in prelims of the 100 free was a personal-best for Rogers; she was only a few hundredths off in finals. Rogers also led off the Dorman 200 free relay (disqualified in finals) and swam a leg on the 400 free relay, which finished second in the state meet.

In club swimming Rogers is a multiple-event qualifier for YMCA Nationals. She had a very strong showing at 2016 YMCA Long Course National Championships, where she went best times in the 50/200m free and 50/100/200m breast.

Top SCY times:

  • 100 breast – 1:07.73
  • 200 breast – 2:26.13
  • 50 free – 25.85
  • 100 free – 55.04
  • 200 IM – 2:15.53

Rogers will join fellow commit Megan Wimmer in the Boston University class of 2021.
