Schrotenboer Selected To Lead King University Swimming And Diving Programs

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University Athletic Director David Hicks announced earlier this week the hire of the second head men’s and women’s swimming and diving program’s history. Following 10 years under John Connor, the swimming and diving programs will now be under the guidance of Jordan Schrotenboer, who joins the Tornado staff from Calvin College.

Schrotenboer has spent the last three years as an assistant coach at Calvin College, where he helped lead the Knights men’s and women’s programs to a combined five MIAA Conference championships. While at Calvin, Schrotenboer helped in every aspect of the program, from helping with recruiting to teaching the student-athletes at practices and meets and helping develop conditioning plans for pre and postseason workouts.

“I am honored to accept the position as head coach of the King University swimming and diving program,” Schrotenboer stated. “I look forward to developing student-athletes and a team that will positively represent the University both in and out of the pool.”

“The combination of Jordan’s tremendous success as an NCAA Division II student-athlete and his experience coaching and recruiting at a small, Christian liberal arts college make him uniquely qualified to elevate our swim programs to the next level,” Hicks said. “I’m extremely excited about the future of our programs!”

He graduated from Grand Valley State University, where he was a 15-time NCAA Division II All-American and helped lead the Lakers to two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and served as a team captain. Schrotenboer then earned his Master in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Iowa State University.

“I am confident that I can help build a strong program at King and am excited to be a part of the team’s growth in NCAA Division II,” Schrotenboer continued.

His first day will be on July 20.
