The Salesianum boys won the 2020 Delaware State Championships title by over 70 points. They had 2 swimmers sweep their individual races. Alek Elder broke 1:53 for the first time in the 200 IM, dominating with his 1:52.75. Elder went on to win the 100 breast in 57.82.
Teammate Tommy Janton earned his first individual win in the 100 fly. He broke 50 for the first time with a 49.90 in prelims and later took the title with a 51.27 in the final. Likewise, he set a lifetime best with his first sub-50 in the 100 back, posting a 49.78 in the heats. In finals, he won the race with a 51.25.
The Salesianum boys set a new State Record in prelims of the 200 medley relay. Janton led off with a 24.00 back split, handing off to Elder for a 26.08 on the breast leg. Justin Fitzpatrick (fly- 23.92) and Ryan Kelly (free- 21.10) closed as they set the mark in 1:35.10. They went on to win the title with a 1:35.74 in finals.
Del Military Academy’s Stephen Worden swept the sprints. Worden hit the wall with a 21.49 in the 50 free, out-touching Charter Wilmington’s Bryant Lambert (21.67). Worden was the only swimmer under 47 in the 100 free, taking the title in 46.79.
