Russia Presents the Winter Swimming World Championships 2016

Today, on the 15th of July, the International Winter Swimming Festival has started in Argentina. The event is held for the second time, and the first one was held in August 2014. During the previous festival the 60 strongest swimmers from around the world made their first swim in the lower lake of the Perito Moreno glacier, located in 88 km from the town of El Calafate.

The Tyumen Region is represented by the head of the Tyumen Winter Swimming Federation Dmitry Dragozhilov. «At the moment, Russia is actively preparing for the upcoming anniversary Championships. At the festival we will show a presentation of the 10th Winter Swimming World Championships, which will take place in Tyumen in March 2016. Our city had been fighting for the right to host the Championships in its own land for two years, and when it’s already decided, we are ready to organize this global event on the highest level», – said Dmitry Dragozhilov.

Last year the Russian delegation was represented by the 13 swimmers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tyumen and Ulyanovsk regions, Perm and Khabarovsk.
