OXFORD, Ohio – In their last home meet of the season, Miami University’s men’s swimming and diving team will host Eastern Michigan in dual-meet competition on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. in the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. Seven seniors will be honored for senior day, with the recognition beginning at 12:45 p.m.
Miami currently sits at 0-1 in conference competition after their loss to Buffalo. In overall dual-meet competition, the RedHawks stand at 1-5.
Despite their loss against Buffalo, the team still had top finishes in a number of events. The divers had another successful meet, particularly in the three-meter competition where the RedHawks turned in a one-two finish. Senior Cole Fryman claimed first with a total of 357.53 points followed by freshman Harrison Moncino in second (339.53).
Freshman Jake Precious tied for first in the 200-yard backstroke with his time of 1:52.28. Senior Davis Staley the next nearest RedHawk finishing in fourth.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles are coming off a win against Wayne State University, 155-67 and are 1-0 in conference competition and 4-2 for the season. Eastern Michigan returns eight top-contributing members from last season to help them defend last year’s conference title. The Eagles were tabbed to finish first in the MAC swim and dive preseason coach’s poll.
