ECU v. Richmond & Limestone Meet Results

The East Carolina swimming and diving team posted three wins against Limestone and Richmond Saturday at Minges Natatorium as the Pirates won 29 of 32 events.
The 35th-ranked women improved to 4-0 behind wins of 174-99 against Limestone and 176-114 versus Richmond, winning 15 of 16 events. The No. 38 men’s team is now 2-1 after beating Limestone 175-105 with 14 first-place finishes.
On the women’s side, freshman Anna Maria Svanbergsson recorded three individual first-place finishes. She started the day with a victory in the 200 free (1:50.99), posting the sixth fastest time in school history. She followed that win by edging out teammate Anastasia Amoiroglou by 0.17 in the 50 free with a time of 23.90. Her margin of victory was even slimmer in the 100 free, touching 0.13 ahead of fellow freshman Tori Angermeier with an ECU freshman record and Conference USA season-best time of 51.27. She also helped the 200 free relay team to a first-place finish.
Svanbergsson led the Pirates in a trio of one, two, three finishes in the freestyle events. Bailie Monahan and Liz Browne finished two, three behind her in the 200 free as did Amoiroglou and Angermeier in the 50 free. The duo switched places in the 100 free.
Lauren Chew, Anna Gibas, Charlsie Lincoln and Danielle Morrin were also multi-event winners. Chew touched first in the 500 and 1000 free, Gibas swept the 100 and 200 back as did Lincoln in the 100 and 200 breast. Morrin captured first-place in the 200 fly and 400 IM. Monahan was a single event winner, claiming victory in the 100 fly.
In the diving well, freshman Ashley Sams earned first-place on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 275.40.
On the men’s side, Rokas Cepulis, Michael Dugan and Attila Kiraly were dual event winners. Cepulis won the 100 fly and 200 breast, while finishing second in the 100 breast by 0.13. Kiraly swept the backstroke races and Dugan was the winner in the 500 and 1000 free.
Adam Dear (200 fly), Fran Krznaric (400 IM), Jeffrey Mead (200 free) and Nikola Simic (100 free) were single event winners as well.
The Pirates also won both men’s diving events as ECU’s Will Beliveau and Alex Clark dove unopposed.
The men and women combined to sweep the four relay events.
ECU returns to action Saturday, Nov. 9 in a tri-meet with College of Charleston and Georgia Southern in Charleston, S.C.
