Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Jacob Houck from Mount Joy, Pennsylvania has verbally committed to Penn State University for 2020-21 where he will join Ben Doyle, Branko Kosanovich, Jacob Oberle, and Zach Brewer in the class of 2024. Houck is a senior at Donegal High School; he swims year-round with Elizabethtown Aquatic Club.

“I’m so incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and swim career at Penn State University.  I would like to thank everyone who has supported me through this process.  I can’t wait to call Happy Valley my home for the next four years. We are”

As a junior at last year’s PIAA AA State Championships, Houck came in second in the 100 fly (48.92) and 5th in the 100 free (46.44). The year before he had been 5th in the 100 fly with 51.44. He followed high school swim season with an appearance at 2019 Middle Atlantic Senior Short Course Championships where he placed 4th in the 50 free (20.83), 3rd in the 100 free (46.14), 12th in the 100 back (52.24), 37th in the 100 breast (1:01.63), and 9th in the 100 fly (49.19). His 50/100 free, 100 back, and 100 breast times were personal bests. This summer, Houck competed in the 50 free and 100 fly at Speedo Junior National Championships. While he didn’t final, he did pick up a Winter US Open cut in the 100 fly with a PB of 55.88. He was just off his PB of 23.99 in the 50 free and he notched a lifetime best in the 100 free (53.05) in time trials.
