British Olympic champion Adam Peaty has been named among 16 athletes who have been shortlisted for the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. A vote for the winner will take place on the night of their live show in Birmingham on Sunday, December 18th. The event will take place at the Genting Arena, and coverage will be available on BBC One, BBC Radio 5 live, and the BBC Sports website.
This summer in Rio, Peaty turned heads as he won Olympic gold in the men’s 100 meter breaststroke. In doing so, he obliterated the World Record, lowering the mark to an astonishing 57.13. It was a dominant performance, as Peaty finished over 1.5 seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Cameron Van Der Burgh, who won the Olympic title in the event in 2012.

You can tell he’s a Brit from those teeth haha. Hope he wins, will look great for our sport
Peaty is just phenomenal and totally deserves to win after his Olympic demolition job, however there’s no way they can ignore Andy Murray…Wimbledon champion and number 1 in the world now.
Agreed….but I would also have Mo Farah(double, double gold) ahead of him, and maybe Alistair Brownlee(back to back gold) too. Isn’t it great to see the footballers being rank outsiders for a change!!!
