South Korea’s Park Tae Hwan finished off an impressive triple at the SC World Championships, adding the 1500 free title to the 200 and 400 freestyle golds he won earlier in the competition. Minutes later he was in the water for the 100 free final, placing 7th.

Park broke the Championship, Asian and Korean Records in the swim, touching in 14:15.51 for gold ahead of the favorite Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy.

GOLD: Park Tae Hwan (KOR), 14:15.51

SILVER: Gregorio Paltrinieri (ITA), 14:21.94

BRONZE: Wojciech Wojdak (POL), 14:25.37

Through the first 1000 meters, Park Tae Hwan (KOR) and Gregorio Paltrinieri (ITA) were neck-and-neck. Paltrinieri took the early lead, but Park was able to move slightly ahead on the middle 500 meters, and break away in the final 500 meters. Paltrinieri held on for silver, with Poland’s Wojciech Wojdak rounding out the medals behind him. The battle for 4th say Denmark’s Anton Ipsen (14:31.53) break away from Norway’s Henrik Christiansen (14:33.56) in the last 100.
