Amanda Beard, 4-time Olympian and former World Record holder, is expecting a second child this summer with her husband Sascha Brown, the couple announced in People magazine today.
The due date for number-two is anticipated at June 30th, meaning that Beard is roughly 5 months pregnant right now. Their first son Blaise, now three years old, was born in 2009.
We’ve watched Beard bloom from a shy 14-year old in Atlanta with her teddy bear behind the blocks to a 31-year old, soon-to-be mother of two who is looked up to by the new young generation of American swimmers.
The article didn’t address whether this meant the end of her swimming career, though she said before last year’s Olympic Trials that she wasn’t planning on retiring even if she failed to make the Olympic team.
